Similar. I grew up in an extremely religious home and it was NOT for me. I struggled with the people in the religion and am much happier without religion. My husband is atheist and is completely against all religion.

I would be open to my son exploring religion and even going to religious schools if they had a good education. My husband is vehemently opposed to going to religious schools (but open to him exploring if he is older and makes that choice).

I am intrigued by religion for sure. I love learning about them and seeing how they fit into my life paradigm.

Not religious. Im agnostic (I guess), DH is an atheist (formerly Catholic). We are open to our kids exploring religion, but we refuse to force it on them.

I identify with a lot of pagan practices, so I imagine they will be exposed to that.

I am Non-Denominational Christian, and DH is Lutheran. I grew up very strictly religious, DH grew up mildly religious.

This is a tough one because I'm basically 'caving' and going with DH's faith so he will go to church also and so we can go with his family vs going alone. Which means our children will likely grow up Lutheran, even though I'm not 100% on board with that religion. I will encourage religious exploration, but really only in the sense of learning about the different religions. It will upset me if they choose to not be religious at all - it's a very big part of my life.

My children will not grow up as strictly religious as I did, but more strict than DH did.

My DH & I are both Christian. We grew up southern Baptist but we don't really identify with any particular denomination. My parents were pretty strict about never missing church & the way they portrayed what it meant to be a Christian posed a lot of rules that should never be broken instead of a relationship with my Creator. After a few years of exploration, I identify with being a Christian.

I think DH would have a hard time with this, but I will allow my LO to explore whatever it is she needs to explore on her journey while always praying for her & trying my best to gently point her to Jesus without making the decision for her. I hope that when/if that ever happens, I will be gentle & loving with her.

We are not religious. I grew up with no religion (parents were non practicing - one Catholic, one Jewish). DH grew up Catholic, but as an adult realizes he disagrees with many of the church's stances and doesn't want to be a cafeteria Catholic. Every so often we toss around the idea of joining a local UU church. I'd like for DS to be exposed to religion without having one forced on him.

No, we're not religious. DH is an atheist and I'm agnostic, I guess.... I was a Christian - and super passionate about my faith - until I was 20 so it's pretty weird for me to accept I no longer believe.

I'm a Christian and love my community. Denomination isn't as important to me as long as (1) women are allowed to have leadership roles; and (2) the church is focused on the teachings of Jesus and his big message.

We are both not religious - probably agnostic with a little spirituality thrown in there. Our families are uber religious and both sides are very active in their churches. I was raised Catholic - went to Catholic schools all my life. DH was raised Presbyterian. We'll go to church with our families on holidays or special occasions but try not to make a habit out of it.

Honestly, one thing that I miss most about being active in a church is the sense of community. We've toyed with the idea of going to a Unitarian church but haven't made that leap yet.

If our kid(s) want to explore any religion, we will be more than happy to help them on their journey.

DH and I are both agnostic, though he leans more towards atheist. We are open to him exploring any religion he chooses when he is old enough to understand. In the meantime, we plan to ensure that neither family indoctrinates him with their beliefs.

We are both religious, he grew up strict Catholic but is no longer practicing, I grew up in a non-strict Methodist household. We attend Methodist services although he's not sure he is ready to turn his back on being Catholic. We will raise LO as a Christian, most likely Methodist and honestly I don't' think I would be open for her exploring other faith outside of Christianity, although I wouldn't disown her or anything just wouldn't be happy with the decision.

@dc yoga bee: I'm curious about what the missing tradition is?

My husband and I are both atheists and neither of us is spiritual. The only thing "out there" that I believe in is science.

I was raised by non-practicing Jews and his family were very strict evangelical Christians when he was a kid, although they've mellowed a lot since then.

If our future child wants to explore other religions, we wouldn't try to stop him or her, but I'd be lying if I said that I didn't hope he or she grows up to follow in our atheist footsteps.

Neither DH or I believe in God and we are not fans of organized religion – some less than others.

I am open to LO exploring religions, but not as a “free-for-all” exploration and not as a very young child; for example, we would not be comfortable with her attending church by herself, going to Sunday school, etc. We would be comfortable talking about the Bible and biblical messages and stories (my husband more than I, since he’s studied/taught and is comfortable with several versions of the Bible and I haven’t) and talking about what different people believe (while stressing that it’s a belief, and that we have different beliefs). We will not send LO to a religious school and would not send her to any summer camps held by church groups.

@dc yoga bee: ah, interesting. Even though I'm not religious, I do still appreciate the traditions and community of organized religion.

No we aren't.. Don't even know what you'd call us. I wish I had some religion in my life but I literally know nothing about any sort of religion, about the bible, etc. I tried to learn more a while back, but it was too overwhelming. Neither of us have religious parents at all either.

I'm a Jesus girl and DH is a Jesus guy. Our LOs will be raised going to church and Christian schools.

@rachiecakes: Yikes, sorry to hear that. I was really happy my pastor agreed to announce us His Last Name and My Last Name at our wedding since I kept my name. Progression !

DH & I are not religious. We both believe there may be some higher being but who knows what it is?
We do plan to teach them about all religions. Just as we will teach them about science. They can make the choice themselves whether they want to practice a particular faith or not. We would support that.

@Torchwood: I struggle with this because MIL (I believe) thinks she is but only when it suits her. She insists on praying at every single meal. Even when it's at our house. It makes me uncomfortable especially because LO has taken to automatically folding her hands in prayer when the ILs are over for dinner.

I"m non-denominational Christian, although I was raised in a Methodist church and my mom was raised in a Baptist church. I'm very religious and a faithful church attender. DH is Catholic and very strongly identifies as being Catholic but he attends church with me sporadically. Our future LOs will be raised almost entirely in my church and faith by default.

@LuLu Mom: My DH will likely never turn his back on his Catholic identity. Its why I know he sort of struggles with enjoying my church.

@swurlygurl: I understand your issues with Lutheranism. Its very much closer to Catholicism than Protestantism. Wall me if you ever want support or need to vent!
