I hadn't really thought about it until another mom mentioned it, and the hospital put up signs recommending no visitors under the age of 18. I take DS out a lot. We both appreciate the change of scenery, even if it's just grocery shopping. What are you doing?

I think you just have to be smart about it. If going to the grocery store, maybe use a shopping cart cover or clean the cart really well.
The best advice I got when I was immuno suppressed was to avoid places with crowds like the mall, movie theaters, etc. Places like a playground should be relatively germ free.

@Thehistoryofus: I'm confused - how would a playground be relatively germ-free? I would think that would be the most germ-infested place!

@BabyBoecksMom: I would think all the open fresh air would be much better that somewhere indoors with limited ventilation/air circulation?
We aren't really...in fact, I'm taking LO to a demo music class today (although we did choose a class with just babies vs a newborn to 5 yr old class bc I figured the babies might have less germs).

@hilsy85: ahhh ok - that makes sense. I was just thinking of all the kids with colds and stuff wiping their runny noses, sneezing or coughing and then touching the playground equipment.

@BabyBoecksMom: Yes, think about the rain that washes germs and the sun has great germ killing properties. However, how often does the seats of a movie theater get wiped down. At the mall, its all that recirculated air. Obviously indoor playgrounds probably are really dirty!

i'm a little leery right now, only because he just had the stomach flu 2 weekends ago. we are slowly bringing him out more, it was awful seeing him sick.

We haven't limited anything.... He's had a flu shot, goes to daycare......oh, and we've all already had the flu. I wouldn't take him to a hospital but that's probably it.
