Both girls are in daycare and they are open. Thankfully!
If your kids are off, what's your childcare set up for the week?

Her school has today off but not the entire week...though she will be out of school because we're going on a family vacation. In the future when LOs in public school we will be very lucky since DH is a teacher so they'll have the same breaks.

Ours is closed all week, but offers "babysitting" tomorrow through Friday (at the low low cost of $150/day). Kill me! She's home with our high school sitter today who is also off school.

Nope, just today. We don't get a February week break in VA schools, just one week next month.

DS1's preschool is closed today for a training day. DH is off though and I'm working remotely.

Wow!! A week long break would be crazy! Daycare is open today and all week

Yep preschool is closed all week. Setting up some playdates and going to try to keep busy!

@Mrs. Champagne: I know :-0 We'd just get a sitter but they charge $18/hr anyway so it comes out to be more. UGH.

E's is closed for a professional development day. I came to work at 6:30am and will switch out with DH at 1:00pm today

It's winter break this week -- so T is off all week (his preschool follows the school calendar). We have a nanny for R and for T's after school care, so he will be home with her this week and thankfully I won't be affected because I have to travel for work.

@JoJoGirl: jeez! Can you each call in sick one day? Lol. $150 is so much!

We're in NY and M's school is closed all week as is her dance school. Every single school around us has break this week except for my husband's - he's only off today.

DS's daycare was closed Thursday, Friday and Monday. I was off work, too, so it's no problem.

@Mrs. Champagne: I wish!!! I have NO time off right now, so any time I take is unpaid. LO got sent home from school with a fever 3 times in the last two weeks (each requiring her stay home the next day) so I'm on super thin ice right now with taking time off for child care

Winter break? Interesting. How long did the school have off for Christmas? And when is Spring Break?
Our public school (and daycare) is open today. Our public school is next closed for 1/2 day at the end of the month and then Spring Break in mid-March.

A full week?! That would have been sweet as a kid. I've only heard of having President's Day off.

@MamaG: in NYC they get a week for Christmas too. But I'm sure it's not called Christmas break. Spring break is in April and also a week.

@regberadaisy: Ah okay, we get two weeks off at Christmas time, that's where some of the difference is. April seems late for Spring Break. What are the start/end times for the school year?

Definitely not a national thing. For the most part, TX schools have today off. My brother's family lives in northern California and they had last week off as well as today, but they are back in school tomorrow.

@MamaG: first week of September to about end of June. Different districts might fluctuate a few days either way.

President's WEEK?! Wow!
DS's daycare is open today. DH still has to work. I'm off!

@Bao: I'm with you! I had no idea this was an all week thing!
Day care is closed today, but teachers are there for in-service. They're back open again tomorrow though!

@MamaG: NYC public schools have winter break the week between Christmas and New Year's, mid-winter break this week, and then spring break the week of April 25th.
Sometimes I wonder why I didn't marry rich since DH is a teacher but it certainly helps with not having to do childcare!

Wow, didn't know President's week was a thing, DSD still has school today although some other schools are off. Daycare is open.

DD sitter is closed today for Presidents Day and so is Public School ( I am a teacher) so it works out! We are only off today and have a regular week ahead!

Oh that's a lot of time off. We end our year before Memorial Day. This year the last day is May 25. We also start the last week of August.
Is there a week break in the fall too? Like around Thanksgiving?

School is closed today for the holiday and again tomorrow for a teacher in service day. We're sending our son to the daycare he used to go to before switching to preschool.

No, they're open all week (including today). I'm off today and would have kept him home, but they're doing their Valentine's exchange today.

Ours also tends to follow NY public schools except for the mid winter recess. Kids are home today but in daycare/preschool for the rest of the week. DH is a teacher so he is off all week and I'm still home fir the last of my mat leave do we get a few days without the kids! Yay!
