No, we have a one year old lab who has never been allowed on the bed and she respects that. Ideally, I wish she could sleep elsewhere happily and join us on the bed only when I wanted. There isn't really enough space for her to join us, but I'd like the cuddles sometimes. Trainers say that's usually too confusing for them, so we stuck with the no-bed rule. My husband said he let her on when I was out of town, but she didn't stay long, probably because she prefers a cool place to sleep. She seems quite happy now sleeping nearby in our bedroom. Her favorite place to rest is on her kuranda bed (see pic).

I ultimately decided to allow her on the couch for cuddling purposes. When she is shedding I cover the couch with a blanket to make fur removal easier.
