Nope, I don't. If there are no cars, I'll cross the street.

Nope! I haven't walked across the street in forever though.

Don't live in an urban area, so this rarely an issue at home. But when I'm visiting friends and family in chi or ny, always!!

I'm weird about that stuff. I don't do anything wrong. There are rules for a reason!

No way. If no cars are coming, I'll always cross the street. I also jay walk all the time.
People seem more likely to break the rules on the east coast than west coast. When we go to LA, it feels like everyone stands around waiting for the walk sign, except for me, who is always jumping out into the street as soon as I see an opening!

Sometimes, depends if it's busy.
The one thing that annoys me is when people press the button for the pedestrian crossing at the lights then skip across when they can but the traffic (usually turning) gets held up because of the pushed button...that wasn't used.

Always. It totally freaks me out when I'm driving when a pedestrian jay walks, I figure it's better to not freak out drivers when I'm on the otherside of the wheel.

If I'm in a city, yes. And cars that don't respect the walk sign make me so mad. I used to walk from the metro to work and at least a few times a week, some idiot tries to turn through the pedestrians like they have he right of way. Some might have gotten smacked by my laptop bag...
In my town or downtown Raleigh? No. There's not enough traffic for it to be a problem.

Yes, because I can get a ticket if I cross the street where I am not supposed to.
It is irresponsible to purposely avoid a rule. I hope no one ever gets hit, but it isn't fair to surprise drivers.

Nope never. I find it funny when people are waiting at the corner for the light to change, and there is plenty of time to get across the street before the next car comes through!

No way. Only when I am in Greenwich, CT because you really need to there - the traffic cops are nasty.

@yoursilverlining: Yeah, I definitely see a difference between the west coast and the east coast.

Nope, I'm usually too much in the rush and definately nobody abides by the rules in Boston.

Yes. I try to always use the cross walk, too. I don't like to jay walk. DH doesn't always obey the rules and will often jay walk if he feels the nearest cross walk is too far. It freaks me out.
honeydew / 7589 posts
No, hardly ever. Especially after living overseas where there weren't any crosswalks and no one crossed at corners, I just don't think about it.

@bluestriped bee: When I am with DD absolutely! I don't really have to deal with that here, it isn't an urban area, but in college I didn't obey the traffic laws as a ped

I am a jaywalker unless we're at a state that doesn't really tolerate it. But otherwise, I pretty much obey traffic signals... Especially when it's a big street.
