I got a new baby Carrier for Christmas, and am wondering how much use I will get out if it and for how long? My LO is 8 months and 20 lbs already. How long did you wear your baby? At what age do you expect your LO to grow out of it?

DS is 10 months and I'm still wearing him, I know some moms who wear their babies well into their toddler years, it does depend in comfort too- but back-carrying distributes the weight the best.

I still wear DD regularly in the Ergo and she is almost 11 months old. I plan to continue doing so as long as its comfortable and DD likes it.

Btw DD is a stringbean - at her 9 month she was 15 lb 2 oz and at almost 11 months I'm guessing she might just be pushing 16-17? Tall and skinny like her papa, so that makes a difference in my carrying goal.

I will wear him until 3 or 4 years old (he's a little one). I've carried my sister's preschooler before.

I wore DD until 18m on the front in our Ergo (never felt comfortable with her on the back); stopped when I got pregnant with DS. Plan to wear DS as long as possible.

22 months (27 lbs) and still baby wearing. We are currently using the Boba 3G that supposedly is good up to 45 lbs so we will continue to baby wear as long as possible.

LO is 8 months and I still wear her all the time and plan to for as along as I can.
@mrsaudi: It does depend on the type of carrier though, because some are not as comfortable for a heavier baby

DS decided he hated the Ergo around the time when he started walking (11-12 months), and we've never really managed to get him back into it, which sucked for a while, but now at 20 months he is 30 lbs so if he can't just walk by himself (which is by far his preference), I'm usually happier with a stroller anyhow.
We have occasionally used the big hiking carrier, and he seems to mind it less, but even that he'll only tolerate if we keep moving and he's distracted.
