I don't personally wear much makeup right now, as an adult but when I was about 12/13 my mom let me wear makeup. I think I will let DD play around with it at a younger age but as far as wearing it to school or something probably not until about 12/13 as well.

I would say high school by the earliest, so what is that? 14? I will let her play with it at home probably younger, but there is no need for a child to wear make-up out of the house any younger than 14 in my opinion!

DH and I discussed this and decided to do it in stages. First she'll be allowed lip gloss, then something else, then full make up when older. I was never into make-up, still am not, so hopefully she won't be too much into it!

I dont wear make-up except to weddings or very formal events. I would say my LO will be allowed around maybe 14 or 15

I will do what my mom did. I'll wait until she shows an interest (hopefully in the middle school years and not earlier) and then I will take her to the mall and get a professional to show her how to do it tastefully instead of looking like a slut. (which is what I did)
Oh... that's if I have a girl.

I used to be in pageants and wore makeup all the time, but oddly, I was never into it, and don't wear it now! I won't introduce it, and let her get herself intrigued about it. Like MaisyMay, we'll start out simple like lipgloss and progress from there. I'm hoping she doesn't show interest until late middle/early high school though!

Between 13-15. I hardly wear make-up but I used to wear a ton! I'd like her to stick to mascara and lipgloss at school. When she's older she can wear more out at night

I was in high school when my parents started letting me wear makeup. If I had a really honkin' zit my mom would let me use some concealer before that but it wasn't until probably 9th grade that I started wearing it regularly. I've never went overboard though. I don't think a lot makeup looks good on anyone.
I thought this was a fair compromise and I never really had an issue with the rule so I think I'll probably do the same with my hypothetical daughter.

High school. I may allow her to wear a little bit on special occasions earlier on, but verrrry little.

I love makeup and wear a full face everyday and always have. I can't imagine not having fun with (tasteful) makeup with my DD! -

If I have a daughter, I wouldn't let her wear makeup out of the house until high school. Lip gloss in junior high would be ok. I'd let her experiment at home before then.

I would say middle school. Thats about when my mom started letting me play around... mostly with eyeliner and glitter. lol. I love makeup, I wear it and I own a lot of it. I think it's inevitable that C is going to be interested.

I think 12-13 is fine if she's interested, as long as it's not crazy/garish. I realize that makeup is how teens can express themselves and feel better about their skin. I would've killed for some foundation at 14. I enjoy wearing makeup, too. I wasn't allowed any until 16, and I always felt that was too old. Even a teenager just wants to feel pretty sometimes. And some of it's just trendy--those roll on glitters sure were fun when I was younger!
What I want to do, when she's old enough, is make a day of it and take her to get an age appropriate makeover. Buy her some of her own stuff and everything. I think it'd be fun.
Dh is letting me take the reigns on all "girl stuff". He has no opinion on any of it and says it's up to me.

I will probably allow a clear or flavored lip glass in middle school, and a sheer lipstick (like Clinique Almost lipstick that I wore in high school!) in high school. Maybe a little powder if she ends up being oily.

I was thinking around 16... LOL. I wasn't into makeup at all, and I don't think that she should be wearing it at all until she's an upperclassman in HS.

In high school, maybe. Makeup can be useful for social acceptance but I'd much rather have her realize she's beautiful as she is...and concentrate on things other than attracting boys! Haha.

I had a dark lipstick phase when I was 14, but now I wear it maybe 2-3 times a year. Makeup really irritates my skin.
Light makeup as early as 12 seems appropiate. To mark the occasion I would take DD to get a make up lesson and skincare lesson, and perhaps buy a lipgloss,

The rule in our house growing up was when you started your period, you could wear makeup. My mom made a big deal out of it for each of us and we got to have a professional show us how and pick appropriate colors so it was never too heavy or too much for our age.

I think I was 12 or 13...Jr high anyway. So, if I ever have a daughter, I'd probably do the same.

probably high school but we will see. hoping she inherited her father's gorg skin, cause mine was a wreck! my mom let me use concealer..then maybe sophomore year I started wearing basic mascara, concealer and lip gloss.
my sister is in sixth grade, and I'm honestly horrified by what some of her classmates wear - clothes and makeup!

Concealer for acne whenever she asks for it, lip gloss is also fine at any age.
"Real" makeup at 16. -
I think I got interested in makeup around age 11, but my mom wouldn't let me wear it so I stole one of her lipstick tubes. If my daughter is interested, I would probably allow some cutsey fun lip gloss and concealer (if she is a pizza face like I was!). Maybe real makeup when she is in 8th or 9th grade.
