LO turned 3 weeks yesterday and with my husband going back to work this week I'd like to slowly start some sort of "routine."
How old was your LO when you started a routine & what does your routine look like?

I think we started a bedtime routine at around four weeks when started bathing LO daily.
We still do the same routine of nurse, bath, nurse and into bed.

We are oddballs I that we started when she was about a week old. Bath, lotion, pjs and nursing then bed.

We did bath time ever since she was born, but started a routine roughly the same time every night at 2 weeks.
Bath, massage/moisturize, pjs, anything to get her sleep!

I want to say four or five weeks. Bath, lotion, pjs, bottle( if she will take it), book, and nurse.

Xander's 12 weeks and we still don't have a consistent routine... but Xander's easy-going and can fall asleep without it, so that's why we've been lazy about starting one. Some babies really thrive on a consistent routine!

We tried at 4 weeks and the first two nights were great and then it all went to crap. Now she won't go down until 11!!!! Really need to do something about this so we will try the routine again... She's 5 weeks now.

@sslm: our routine is definitely scheduled around A's choices. He prefers to go to bed for the night around 10, which I think is about normal for this young age. I haven't tried yet but I'm sure if we tried our routine earlier it would be a disaster.

We are trying to get into the habit of one, she is 5 weeks. We co-bed, and I go to sleep with her. Our plan is: diaper, hang out with dad, massage, skin to skin while nursing, pjs, nurse to sleep.
I'd like to add a song, but we aren't there yet. We are taking it dayby day, with the hopes of falling into a soothing routine as we go. She is still really little, and often each day is different.

I can't say exactly when we started our routine, it really just slowly developed over time after she started having a consistent bed time - maybe 6 weeks-ish or so? Our routine is pretty simple: diaper change, ointments/lotion, put on pjs, turn on white noise, nurse and bounce to sleep in our "quiet corner", i.e. the bed. I am sure you can start developing one whenever you are ready, although it may take time for your LO to get it. Mine didn't seem to respond to it until 4 months-ish, when we finally figured out what bed time she needed. Before that point she would have a melt down during our routine, which certainly didn't help!

7 weeks? I don't think it made a huge difference in the beginning but it helped by 12 wks.

Around 6 weeks. It has been the best thing we ever did. LO goes to bed pretty easily, even when we've traveled!

Wow, we started late compared to you all. 3 months here. Everything was great until we hit the 4 month sleep regression and teething. Sigh ...

We started ours around 4 weeks.
Starting around 7pm - bathtime, lotion, swaddle, feed while being sung to, in bed.
He's usually in bed by 8pm, and asleep within 5 minutes. He was STTN (10 hours) by 5.5 weeks.

Around 4-5 weeks: Bath, massage with lotion, PJs, book, song. I used to nurse before the bath then again before bed, now I just nurse before the bath.
