What's the consensus on OPKs with FMU? I've read that it's not recommended because it can cause false positives, and also that it's bc LH is released later so it gives you a false negative. Personally, I've always tested both morning and afternoon since I drink a lot of water. Haven't had a prob with it before

@runnerd: I heard it could cause false negatives because it takes a while for LH to get in to your urine. I just avoid doing it and use OPKs in the afternoon/evening.

@runnerd: I've "heard" that it's better to test in the afternoon with OPKs.

@babybean404: Welcome and good luck! (Also, there are a lot of cardinals that visit my yard and I love them, so I like your avatar!)

@runnerd: I was using opks with FMU for months before I heard that you weren't supposed to. I always got a smiley on the digis, so I haven't had a problem. Since I found out you should use them later in the day I've tried to do them twice a day if O is imminent, but honestly I don't think I can hold out long enough for it to be concentrated in the afternoon/evening.

@babybean404: Personally, I'd give your body sometime to adjust being over BC. I think you are going to drive yourself crazy until you get your cycle normal, which can take about 2 months.

@MRSHONEYBEAR: we just finished watching orange is the new black and its not entirely a comedy... its a drama/comedy and some parts get pretty deep.. just letting you know in case you were really looking for somethign to laugh at.. in that case watch arrested development!

@pui: That temp spike looks good! Fingers crossed it's not a fluke! (And I'm with the folks who are impressed with the BDing.)

So I had an as-dark-as-the-control-line OPK Sunday, two definitely darker ones yesterday, and another as-dark today (though it was FMU so dunno how that might effect it). But temps are still consistently low. I guess we're just gonna BD again today, but I really want to see a temp jump! I'm on CD19, and my cycles have always been around 29 days. I'm wondering now if I've always O'ed later than I thought, or if this is going to be a long cycle. I do think I need to push back my poas day. I don't want to wait, but if I O today the 16th will be 10DPO, and that seems a little early. Grumble. Come on body, let's get this going properly!

http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/LizSmith17 (the couple higher temps are probably because I slept in significantly later on the weekend.)

    nectarine / 2932 posts

@LizSmith: Hopefully you have a temp jump tomorrow! When do you normally test? I tested at 10dpo last month, but I usually get AF at 12dpo.

  14. Torchwood

    pomelo / 5607 posts

@Littlebit: I don't have a day I normally test. I tested the day AF was due when I got my BFP (ended in m/c, but I wasn't charting or using OPK's so I didn't know what day it was), and the cycle after m/c I was still getting false positives so I really couldn't test. The 16th is when I would expect AF, so it's when I would have tested if I didn't know about what's going on. But I'm guessing hormones haven't settled yet and that's why it's weird.

@heybrookeashley: Thank you much for sharing your experience. I can't tell you how much better it made me feel. When we were going through all the hard stuff DH would always say "have you talked to anyone about this" and I'd look at him like he was crazy and say "Yes! You!". Realizing now how therapeutic hearing similar experiences is and it helps in remembering that how you feel right now is not how you'll feel forever. Thank you!

@runnerd: i used opk's twice a day to catch my surge. i tested in the morning (but not always with FMU) and around dinner time, 8pm or so.

Could you change me to test on the 20th? I guess O is a little shy this month. I'm still getting lines on my OPK's, but no positive yet...

@pui: Holy BDing! How do you two manage that?! LOL.

@babybean404: Ditto what @pui: said - give it some time. My first two cycles off BC were long - 40 and 62 days. I just finished cycle #6 which was 42 days, for no apparent reason. I wouldn't rush to progesterone though - even after 2 months. Just give it time. Also, your chart temps are a bit all over the place. I'm guessing the really low ones are throwing off FF. Is there a reason they're so low? Were they taken at a different time or something?

Goodbye spotting, hello full-fledged AF. This long cycle totally messed up FF - it's giving me a huge range of fertile days now, LOL! Lots of BDing to come...

@littlek: Well the POAS addict in me is still there:). She was buried under H for a while, but she's ready to come out and play now:). I dont know why Poas is so fun! I'll never be in the "Should I test?!?" Camp bc you can bet your bottom dollar that I already tested, lol....

I just use wandfos so it's like 5 minutes of fun for ten cents haha
