This doesn't seem worth a whole new thread for, but I have a question. I've seen on here that the blue dye HPT's are less reliable. I also think I've seen people say the wondfo's are as well, but they have pink dye. So are the wandfo's better or worse than blue dye (from what you may have heard or personal experience)?
pear / 1974 posts
@LizSmith: I've definitely read that blue dyes are unreliable, but wondfos are known for being super-sensitive, they can detect very little amounts of HCG in the urine, which is why i think people use them a lot (plus they are really cheap) - but i've also heard stories of lots of evaps appearing on the wondfos..
pear / 1974 posts
@LizSmith: also, for me, their negative tests have been right on the money lol and i've never experienced any evap lines.
grapefruit / 4311 posts
@LizSmith: personally, I rank them FRER, wondfo, blue dye.
I have had trouble with weird false positive and evap lines occasionally with wondfo, but that was post-MC so it might just have been my body being out of whack. FRER has always been 100% reliable for me. And after seeing false positives on HB from blue dye, I refuse to buy them.

@PrincessBaby: this may be super creepy of me, but I have to tell you. I followed your whole journey trying to get pregnant on WB last time! I was rooting silently for you! And many others, really. I'm excited you're trying again!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@LizSmith: Blue dyes were evil for me, leading up to my bfp. The only things that didn't drive me crazy was a frer. The blue dyes made me think I was hallucinating.

@FutureMrsMcK: hahaha... I think after having a LO your body is so f*d up that you are constantly like "am i pregnant?".. hmm, let me POAS..
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
@PrincessBaby: I totally POAS yesterday too and the chances of me being pregnant are very slight... we have been doing PNP and DH had an oops moment this month...
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
@littlek: Seriously, I'll be like "Oh my boob hurts, I should POAS!" (Oh wait, that's cause LO BIT me there!) or "I'm feeling nauseous, I should POAS!" (Probably because my body has been running on the fumes of coffee and little sleep for over a year!) But if it was ever positive I'd have a heart attack!
GOLD / pomegranate / 3938 posts
@FutureMrsMcK: How about: "I'm feeling really fat today, I must be pregnant so I better POAS!" But then its like, shoot, I ate a crap load of Nilla Wafers last night before bed. Darn.
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
@MrsMcD: Oh that too! "Hmm, my belly is looking very pouchy today, I should POAS!" (Oh wait, I'm just still carrying around baby weight + love carbs!)

@mrsmcd: i have been at work all day and haven't seen any of the new posts, but i came here and totaled LOLed at your last comment about poas!!

@MrsMcD: LOLOL! Yes, I know that 'feeling fat, must POAS' feeling very well. Happened to me all the time when I was on the depo shot and didn't have AF for years to reassure me otherwise!

@littlek: it's kind of fun:) It feels nice to know it's no big deal if it's a bfn right now, buuuuuuttttt it's also exciting like buying a lottery ticket---you know there's no way in hell but you do it *just in case*.

@Littlebit: Awwwww!!! That is so sweet!!!! Thank you! I'm hoping I don't go nuts this time around!!! No hanging upside down from the ceiling afterwards or anything lol:)

I hope I'm not spamming the board by asking the following - it does seem related as it's all about POASing.. (I just said that out loud and it sounds weird. But anyway.)
OPKs: here is what I've got so far...
1) Testing twice a day is better as LH surge < 12 hours
2) Faint lines may not lead up/fade in to a positive line
3) EWCM is the best indicator of upcoming O, but there may be a few times in a cycle that EWCM appears. Better to BD than miss it...
4) LH is easy to miss.
Does all that sound about right?
Here is what I'm questioning:
a) After O, CM dries up. Does this mean there is no EWCM after O?
b) Does no line (just white space) on an OPK mean that LH is for sure done? (I know there's no way to for sure say that O happened from an OPK...)
c) How many days do you gals get EWCM before positive OPK or O? (I've seen 4 days and 2 days as answers to this...)
d) Do you gals have a lot of days in your cycle where you get faint lines on OPKs? Is that just the way of it?
I guess I'm just nervous cause I O'd last time on CD15 and this time, I'm at cd15 with faint lines on OPKs (which I've had every day since AF ended.) I'm hoping I didn't already O this cycle!
(Oh yes, and I'm trying to relax so there's some kind of zen nirvana space in my fertile parts cause stressing out just delays everything, right?)
nectarine / 2086 posts
Well I just tested with my 2nd OPK and today the test line is definitely darker than the control woohoo! FF has pinned me as ovulating on CD15 (today) for the past 3 cycles so hoping this is just extra confirmation. Although, my temp usually only rises 3/10ths of a degree on CD16 and I have a pretty gradual rise in temp the next few days after that, so I haven't ever been too sure what day I O specifically.
I noticed LOTS of ewcm this morning, but my cervix still feels much lower compared to other cycles. What's the deal?!
bananas / 9899 posts
ANOTHER positive over here, guys. The test line (left) is still slightly darker than the control line.
pomelo / 5228 posts
@pui: Geez, I'm frustrated for you! Have you been checking CM/cervix?
grapefruit / 4311 posts
@sweetkeight: well to touch on a few questions, I usually get 2-3 days of EWCM, but never more and I don't have it at other times of my cycle personally. My OPKs almost always have at least have a faint line, with several days of darker then 2 days of positive, back to faint.
grapefruit / 4311 posts
@pui: gosh I have no response, there's no doubt that is still blazing positive
bananas / 9899 posts
@Mrs.Someone: Not really consistently... I have felt maybe (tmi) a little wetter inside than normal, but yesterday's CM had more of a creamy consistency.

@MrsMcD @FutureMrsMcK I am still on bc AND just finished my period, but have been symptom spotting for the last two days! I think it's the influence of this board I am calling it good practice for when I really start ttc!

@mrshoneybear thanks for the positive vibes!
@pui maybe just try not to overthink it and keep BD'ing! im sure you O'd one of these days but who knows what's going on with the tests. may just be your specific body, hormone levels and these particular tests lead to some wacky results. FX for you though!
bananas / 9899 posts
@heybrookeashley: It's weird because it's the same batch of tests I used earlier and I got plenty of negatives before. I have no idea how to explain this!

@ Pui
How long do most people usually get a + OPK result? I sometimes get them 2-3 days in a row of solid +. How many days is this for you?
bananas / 9899 posts
@Claire.Peonies: 7 days in a row, but it's possible that the first 3 are false positives.
bananas / 9899 posts
@runnerd: @Claire.Peonies: I only had 1-2 days of positive OPKs before this 7 days in a row thing happened.
