@Sprite: How long does it take for the procedure? Does DH do his part the same day? What happens if you get your peak on a Saturday? Hmmm...what am I forgetting?
kiwi / 693 posts
@sarahnicole218: Granted tomorrow is only our second IUI cycle, I can only tell you how it was for my first.
How long does it take for the procedure? - The IUI itself just takes a couple minutes, and feels similar to a pap, but overall I was back out in the waiting room in about 15 mins. Once I get called into the room, I have to verify they have DH's sample and sign off that yes, his name is on it. Then up in the stirrups, speculum time, and the actual insemination part is over in a minute or two. However, then they want you to lie there for 10 minutes before you get up.
Does DH do his part the same day? - Yes, at least at my clinic. DH has an appointment one hour before mine, where he makes his deposit, and then they do the sperm wash and all the prep during the hour between our appointments. DH doesn't have to wait around if he has to get to work or something (mind did the first time around, but can't this time).
What happens if you get your peak on a Saturday? - My clinic is open by appointment only on the weekends, so it's not an issue. My last IUI was on a Sunday in fact. I believe most RE's operate this way. At mine they don't do baseline appointments on the weekends, but for monitoring appointments and procedures they'll schedule you. Are you doing monitoring ultrasounds, or just calling the clinic when you get a +OPK?
I think that's about it, really! But let me know if you think of more questions. The day of the IUI is really pretty easy and short. It is all of the meds, dealing with side effects and every other day monitoring appointments leading up to the IUI that are the time consuming, stressful part.

@Sprite: thanks! I'm at the lab right now waiting to check in for my beta. When I tested my trigger out in the past, I was consistently out by 6 days post IUI. 50 wondfo will be more than enough! I still have 30 Babi HPTs that I've been using daily & probably will continue to take until I'm past the first trimester. Are you taking the day off after your IUI?
@sarahnicole218: IUI procedure is super easy! It's shorter time frame than a pap & it's amazing that they can tell you how many of your DH's sperm is inside you! Although I think you have to ask them for that #. My RE usually has DH go in at 8 to give his sample & then an hour to an hr and a half later is my turn to get turkey basted. My RE will then have me lay still for 10-15 minutes after the procedure & then I'm good to go home. Will they be monitoring the number of follicles you have?

@MaryM: thanks! I hope everything works out for you. I hope the naturopath will have lots of info for you!

@Sprite: @lazypanda: This is my first IUI, so this time I'll just be calling in when I get a positive opk! I'm not certain how much monitoring they'll do this time around. I'm just seeing my OB right now.

@sprite: good luck! Hope this is it!
@sarahnicole218: so exciting!
AFM, just truckin along at soon-to-be 8dpo. Snoozeville. Today was so awesome and hectic at the same time. Loved my kiddos and love our school. But I'm spent. Flat exhausted tonight. But it was so worth it!
I have been pretty indifferent to the whole being pregnant this cycle. Partly because I doubt this will be it. Even though it's a clomid cycle, I just don't have my hopes up. I'm kinda tired of getting my hopes up. It's been too long and too many cycles of that. After this cycle we will ntnp. I'm looking forward to not having this chin and neck acne caused by the clomid, too! Awful and painful

Woot finally got the OPK! I almost didn't take one today but I'm glad I did!!!

@lazypanda: Congrats! Amazing you got a result that early. Doesn't make it easier for me to wait

@lazypanda: Good luck with your beta! And no, not taking the day off. But I work from home, so I can cuddle with my heating pad while on my laptop
@sarahnicole218: Oh, interesting. I'm not sure how it works at ob/gyns, but I'd imagine the process itself is similar. But I hope they're accommodating on weekends if you get your surge on a Friday/Saturday. It would suck if they were just like "sorry, you can't have an IUI this month, your cycle didn't line up with our normal business hours"
@organicmama: Ugh, I remember the acne from clomid all too well. Keeping my fingers crossed for you this cycle!
@Marfi: whoo hoo! Yay for +OPKs!

@Sprite: I know for sure they take Saturday appointments, just have to call on Friday to schedule...not sure about Sundays. If I ovulate on cd18 like I did last time I was on Clomid, looks like I'll be in for a Saturday IUI in a few weeks.

@Sprite: Thank you! Good luck to you!!!
Today is 7 DPO. I had my blood work done this morning to check my estrogen and progesterone. FX! Today is CD 27...and I've had AF arrive this early but I don't expect it to and well, I'm not expecting it at all! They want me back in one week for a pregnancy test. FX so hard. So I just want to point out that I just realized that my boobs don't hurt AT ALL! Usually they kill me shortly after O. Staying hopeful and positive but trying to not over think it!! So my POAS date will be Sept. 2! Trying to stay distracted... GL to everyone else! I'm praying for everyone's bfp!!!

@Sprite: thanks! My beta was 156. Once I get tomorrow's beta number, I may post my POAS pix here at that time. How did the IUI go?
@nicole112: good luck! My RE says anything over 10 for progesterone is a great number to have as it indicates ovulation has occurred. FX for you!

@lazypanda: oh my gosh, congrats!!!
@organicmama: are you loving the new job?
Good luck to everyone!
I am 6DPO, I think. FF keeps adjusting my O date. I hope the earlier day that makes me 6dpo is right because I have better timing than the later day (that would make me 3DPO).
I made an appt with an re for mid-October. I'm really looking forward to it!!!

Oh, and to update on me, I got a positive OPK this morning and my ovaries have been super sore today so think O is imminent. i have a class tonight which I'm hoping will be super short since it's the first week so I can get home since DH has the day off.

@sarahnicole218: That is great they have Saturday hours at least. Hope your experience is smooth sailing!
@nicole112: thanks so much for the luck! Do you have any fun Labor Day weekend plans to keep your mind off POAS?
@lazypanda: Great beta number! And I look forward to your POAS pictures. My IUI went great, although I'm super crampy this afternoon. I think my uterus is revolting because DH's post sperm wash number was twice as many as last time.
@Crystal: that is great you've got an RE appointment on the books. I hope they can put together a great plan of action for you (or that you won't need to go, FX for this cycle!)
@MaryM: have fun tonight

@Sprite: Twice as many?! That's excellent! I'm feeling good things for you this cycle!

@lazypanda: Thank you!
@Sprite: You are very welcome! Not much is planned yet...unfortunately to help keep me distracted, however I work in a school 2 days a week and here school starts up the day after Labor Day so I need to get ready! So hopefully that'll help!
@Crystal: Yay for the RE appt!!!
I went to the RE this am for bloodwork to check if I O'ed and the nurse called me this afternoon to tell me that my progesterone is 7 and they like to see 10! Argh..so I started taking the progesterone tonight! They want me to do the supplements twice a day for 7 days... It kind of sucks but at the same time not much else is wrong with either me or DH so it's an easy fix and I hope this is the trick to get me KU! They want me back in one week for pregnancy test! So my new "POAS" date will be 9/2 as I don't want to drive myself crazy up until then!

@Sprite: @nicole112: I'm oddly excited for it! Now I just need a release from my dr, but I don't see why he wouldn't give it to me and the med group wouldn't approve.
@Sprite: I am so excited for you! FX this is it!
@nicole112: FX the progesterone gets you on track!
@MaryM: I hope you made it home in time! Get it, girl!
kiwi / 636 posts
@Crystal: thanks! awesome news! I hope you won't have to get to that point, but if you do, I suggest bringing pen & paper to jot down all the information you'll get at your RE consultation. As your 6dpo, do you think you'll be testing early at 9 dpo?
@Sprite: Twice as many? That's great! I hope this is a great sign of what's to come!
@nicole112: Are you taking the progesterone suppositories? I'm taking them now too. Started yesterday & my RE wants me to take it for the next 12 weeks. I hope they get you your bfp!
apricot / 278 posts
@Crystal: TY!!!
@lazypanda: Yes they are the suppositories. GL with them! I hope they don't make me feel like a psycho biatch lmao. TY! I hope it brings you your bfp as well!!! FX!!!

Today is CD1....wah waahhhh. Not that I didn't know it was coming. So on Friday, I'll start Clomid (100mg) and then wait for ovulation for our first IUI. If I ovulate same day as the last time I did when I took 100mg of Clomid, it will be Saturday, September 13th (CD 18). I'm excited about it, because we'll have a cycle where the pressure is off of us and trying to time everything. Time to let go and just be along for the crazy ride.

@lazypanda: Oh gosh, I haven't even said it yet...but congratulations!!!!

@sarahnicole218: sorry about AF But on to great things next cycle!
Tomorrow I'm 10 dpo. How come I don't feel like testing yet?? I have no symptoms, but I didn't last month either on my first clomid cycle. We'll see what I feel like in the morning. AF is due on Monday or Tuesday of next week.

@sarahnicole218: Sorry lovey. On to a stress-free cycle!! FX next month is your month!!
@organicmama: We are the same once again! My POAS date is Tuesday. And I'm 8 DPO today. Praying this is our month!

@dc yoga bee: @MrsMccarthy: @sarahnicole218: thank you ladies! After 21 months of TTC, I finally can say that I am on my way towards a healthy/normal pregnancy! My beta results are back & were more than triple Monday's #s.
So here are all my POAS since Saturday! The top is today's FRER, middle FRER is from Sunday morning, & bottom FRER is Saturday night. I've been POAS daily with internet cheapies (wondfo LH, thin navy blue is Babi HPT & hot pink are Babi OPKs) since Saturday.

@lazypanda: EEEEEKKKKKK!!!!!! Congratulations!!!! I am so happy for you!
@Sprite: Did you have your IUI today? I had mine this morning... I am so excited and nervous since this is our 3rd. Everything looks good though! I go back next Wednesday for a progesterone check. I have bee SO crampy today. I was the same way last month. Do you cramp after an IUI or is that ovulation pain? Do you know?

@lazypanda: I'm so excited for you!!!! I think this is month 21 for us too so maybe this will be it?!?
@fotolori1: I was definitely crampy after my IUI last month. I think it's just the catheter part that causes it?
cherry / 230 posts
@lazypanda: idk, I think you may want to POAS one more time just to make sure. Lol!! Congrats!! It's so refreshing to hear success stories after a long TTC. wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months!
kiwi / 693 posts
@sarahnicole218: Aww, sorry to hear it's a new cycle. But hopefully the IUI this time does the trick! I'm hopeful for you!
@organicmama: When are you planning to test? Not feeling like testing yet is way better than getting the itch to test too early at least!
@lazypanda: All of those make me smile so much!!!
@fotolori1: Yay, glad you got your IUI done! I had mine Tuesday morning, and I am still sore. But my uterus always seems to revolt, I was in pain for a day after my HSG, SIS, and my last IUI. This time around was SO bad, I could hardly stand up straight. I just love how both my RE and the internet says it’s painless for most people, but some cramping is normal. Um no, I spent the last two days cuddling heating pads! But hopefully being super crampy just means our uteruses (uteri?) were overwhelmed with so many swimmers and it is a good sign! Hoping you get good results on your P4 next week. I don't go in again until I get a BFP or AF, because I'm already going to be on progesterone suppositories, which I start tonight.

I'm on 6 or 7DPO here. I know our timing was pretty bad this month, so I haven't really been keeping up with things. I've temp'd a few times here and there, but don't really know how it falls in the whole scheme of things. If AF waits to arrive until Monday I'll at least be happy with the length of my LP. Bummed but trying to suck it up.

I was feeling so bad yesterday evening- couldn't get warm, nausea, then hot flashes during the night, so I took a test this morning - BFN. Bummer. But it is still early. AF is due beginning of next week.
Hope I don't get sick though, I've just been home with fever 2 weeks ago

@fotolori1: @nicole112: @Honeygold89: @LindsayInNY: @organicmama: @Sprite: thanks ladies! I've still got 20 more HPTs to go! I think having TTC for so long & having had a chemical pregnancy has made me very worried about whether or not it's real, hence the obsessive POAS to reassure myself that this is in fact real.
@fotolori1: I was crampy after my IUIs as well & had taken the whole day off to rest. It wasn't super noticeable that I couldn't do anything, but more of a dull ache? FX for great progesterone results next week followed by an awesome beta the following week!
@LindsayInNY: I'm hoping month 21 is lucky for you as well! I hope your monitoring appt goes well & that you'll have plenty of great sized follicles to release for your IUI!
@Sprite: are you on prometrium for your progesterone suppositories? The pharmacy tech was like, oo these pills are so pretty looking as she had never seen them before (I picked it up from a pharmacy that does not have many fertility patients). I wanted to tell her, lady, it's not that pretty when you have to take it vaginally.
@Keppa: @busylizzy111: good luck to the both of you! I'm hoping that your weekend plans will jump start your feelings so that next week will bring some good news!

@lazypanda: I think I'll probably use a ton of pregnancy tests too! In our 19 months of trying, I've never seen a positive pregnancy test. Once I see one, I won't believe it for a very long time! I look forward to more pictures
Today, I start Clomid (100mg)...bring on the hot flashes!! We're heading to Kansas City for the weekend, and since I'm not pregnant, I plan to THOROUGHLY enjoy myself! Have a great holiday weekend everyone.

Hey ladies!
I got crosshairs this morning, but was a little surprised. FF says I Oed on Tuesday, and I was thinking it'd be more like Wednesday or Thursday. But I kind of hope it's true because that would make our timing so much better! (O and O-2)
DH and I are heading out of town overnight this weekend and I have a friend coming into town on Monday. I guess I've been more busy than usual lately because I can't believe I'll already be POAS Sept. 9
