So, I just got a new job and I have to go to San Diego for a week of training. Originally I was planning on leaving DS with DH but I'm having second thoughts that he can't handle it. So, now I'm looking into taking DS with me since there is a daycare center on site at the office I will be out in San Diego. Am I crazy to think I can take a 6 month old on a flight from DC to San Diego by myself?

Congrats on the new job! I think you'll be fine on a flight; what I've heard is that younger babies are easier on planes. I'd be more concerned about you having time and energy to go to training and take care of baby in a hotel. That sounds hard to me. Remember you don't have to be super mommy and try to "do everything!"
I'm sure either decision will work out just fine - both will have pros and cons. Good luck!

I traveled alone with Lo when she was 4 months old, 9 months old and 15 months old.
First 2 flights were easy. Flying with a toddler can be a challenge! It's totally doable to fly with your Lo to SD, but I think it'll be a hassle working and living with him solo in a hotel room.
I would leave your son with your husband -
I agree with PPs. The flight is not a big deal but I think you might be more comfortable if you're unencumbered by the baby. I went away for like 5 days when my baby was around that age and it was fine. If you have to worry about training, making a good impression, plus feedings, sleep, daycare logistics and everything else, you might not be at 100%.

I think it's doable.... but I also think life would just be easier if you left your LO with his dad. Why don't you think he can handle it?
I don't know, I think it's the little things like what do you do if you really have to pee while you're on the plane but your LO is sleeping and you don't want to disturb him. And even if he's not sleeping, where do you put your LO when you're in the teeny tiny airplane bathroom peeing? I know people fly with babies alone, but why do it if you don't have to?

The only thing I think may be difficult is carrying stuff by yourself and carrying baby. Is there anyone you can take with you as a helping hand? Like your mom or sister? Other than that I imagine it being totally doable! I think your DH would be fine but me personally, I couldn't leave my baby for a week--even with daddy:/

I don't think the travel would be the hard part. I think being there in a new environment would be the toughest thing.

I'm taking my daughter in an international flight by myself in 3 weeks. She'll be 8 months old. I think you'll be fine.
I do agree with the PPs though. It might be best if you just leave him home.

I would leave him at home because I think it would be a great way for the two guys to bond. Plus, would you offend your husband if you take him? I would worry about what kind of message that would send. Is your mom or any other grandparents close by to help him in the evening?
Also, if your son needs you while he is at the day care center, you would have to leave training and that might not go over well in some companies.

I think you should leave him. Don't underestimate your DH! And if he needs help men are NOT shy about asking. Females want To do it all and men will ask for help.

Leave him. Men are not incompetent children; they will surprise you when it's time to step up. He knows how to feed, bathe, and clothe his own child, right? If you really can't trust your DH to take care of HIS child, too, you really need to work on that. Maybe find ways to incorporate him more into the childcare or something so you feel confident he's not totally incapable. Your husband is the first person you should feel comfortable leaving your own child with. Especially at 6 months of age.

I don't think DH is incompetent. It's really mental that I don't want to leave DS and I worry that if something does go wrong I will be far away.

Well, of it's an issue of should, I think you should leave her with DH so he can take a turn, but I would probably bring her with me because I can't imagine being away from her
