The cats have always been allowed in. Always shooed out of the bed and kicked out when she's asleep. I keep her door closed at night for noise anyways

Honestly once E got moving, my cats were like RUN SHES COMING FOR ME. THe sudden movements and happy shrieks startled them a lot

@hotchildinthecity: haha so so true. our cat paws at doors that are shut, including our LO's. SO ANNOYING. haha

We currently close L's door, but I honestly don't know what to do about this in the future... it's on my mind often!

We have two dogs and they've always been allowed in his room. But not during sleep time.

The cats will never sleep with her because they don't let you sleep. They can't sleep with us either because they just head-butt you for cuddles all night long. We'd let the dog sleep with her probably when she moved to a floor bed? So long as they still got along great. And I already guarantee she will get a puppy (i.e. young dog. not legit puppy) for some birthday before she is 5 or 6 and I'm sure that dog will always sleep with her.

They have always had access to her room. The cats have never tried to get in the crib (I have to shoe Autumn out of the car seat some), but instead they sleep under it or in the rocking chair. Sometimes my dog will lay in the room with her. When she is older, I won't mind if they sleep in the bed with her, but they spend a lot of time staying just out of reach right now.

@hotchildinthecity: You clearly know cats! We have two and they frequently scratch at the bathroom door when I'm in there. So I've reconciled myself to never ever having privacy, because they won't let up until they get in. Even for MOTN super quick pee breaks. We can't shut our bedroom door at night for the same reason.

@yoursilverlining: This has been a fear of mine the last week or so. We plan to have the bassinet in our room for the first several weeks, and I worry that the cats (especially the really dickish one) will try to crawl in there at night with LO. She's the one who sleeps in the clothes basket if we don't get a chance to put things away right away after doing laundry. And a bassinet is as close to a laundry basket as it gets. I hope they'll be like yours and stay clear once LO arrives.

LO is 22 months and we keep his door shut. Im not really worried about the cat hurting him, more worried about it waking him up! I was definitely freaked out in the beginning though before he could move about the cat getting into the crib. I don't worry about that anymore now that I know any suffocating move on the cat's part would wake him up.
