My friend forwarded this to me. I just have to wonder about the parents with some of these names

The sarcasm makes me laugh, and I do agree with a lot of points, nothing drives me more nuts than 'weird" spellings to be different. Or spellings that make no sense with the pronunciation of the name.

"Kierson - Straight from the "Invented Irish name for Boston-area steakheads" file" LOL!

I snorted several times while reading this article . . . lol @ Raw'Bert!

I think Julissa is a legit name (I have known a couple that are now in their 20s) but WOW, I must agree that some of the baby naming trends are pretty atrocious these days.

haha maybe I have no sense of humor but I totally found his article condescending and... mean. idk maybe I took it personally?!
I have a unique first name and I LOVE it. I would much rather have a unique name than be "one of four Jennifer's" in my class.
Knowing how much I adore my name, I wanted my son to have something that is not too common - someone who will be taken seriously, but also "unique". I did a lot of research on the name first to be sure that there were other good people out there with his name.

"• Blayde The extra Y in there makes it 10 percent sharper. And don't fuck with Blayde's brother, Nyfe." I almost just had water come out of my nose while reading this.

Egh! I hate people who misspell names just to be different. Some names are just ridic. I feel bad for the kids.

@Coco Bee: I'm with you. I love unique names! I am a Lindsay and growing up I always had like 5 best friends named Lindsay. It got old
I would never make fun of people naming their kids plain names, but people always give me grief when they hear my future unique names. Eh, oh well.

I thought it was funny. If you have read Freakonomics, it is research based and proven that what is in a name can determine how far someone might go in life. I teach in a middle school where it is very high-poverty...and tons of precious kids have pretty ridiculous names.

I'm in Utah... The phrase from Portlandia is "put a bird on it", but in Utah it's all about putting Y's in names. Yes you can get 3 Y's in one name. Now when they call me about a kid from the ER and tell me his name is "Max" I ask how many Y's are in it.

My husband and I love Portlandia!
I really dislike alternative spellings for common names. Where I live it sounds like every kid is from a soap opera. All the other Graces (my daughter's name) are 60+. Love it!

omg This made me laugh out loud so many times I wonder if my coworkers think I'm having a fit. I'm all for "different" names, but some of these are silly. Seriously.

@Rachel: I like this one, too, haha - I know a handful of Kiers, as well as a Kiernan and Kieran... ah, Boston

Wow, this article discusses every single name "Trend" I can't stand! I was almost dying laughing. Unfortunately, I know kids with three of the names listed in the article. (The one about the girl getting bent over the sink at TGI Fridays....now that was harsh).
I know an Addisyn, Jaedyn, and a Maddysyn. I don't get it! They don't even look right!
