What should I do about my 11 month old biter? She has done it twice ay daycare in the last week. I put a teething ring in her bag to keep at daycare. And we talk each time about how biting is wrong, but I dont think she is old enough to understand any of what I am saying.
What should I do? She has always been a biter. It was one of the reasons I stopped nursing...so i dont think it is a short lived phase...

Has day care been able to identify what makes her bite? My BFF's LO had a biting issue and her teacher realized she did it when she felt threatened or cornered (she is smaller than all the other kids in her class). Once they started watching for and preventing those situations she never bit again.

@MamaMoose: I will ask! DH picked her up today so I heard about it second hand. She just got moved up to the big baby room amd is the youngest one in there so that could be the culprit. Maybe she is frustrated.

@DillonLion: good luck! We haven't had any biting issues so far but M may or may not have given a little boy in her class a two handed shove to the chest when he got too close to her the other day!! Her daddy was very pleased : /

My best friend ha this problem with her son. He mostly just bit her though. But she would immediately say, "no biting" in a strong voice and put him done in a PNP and walk away for 30 sec-1 minute. It really helped them. Good luck!

Is it biting or mouthing? Like, is it an act of aggression or just that she is "biting" on everything? Younger toddlers have been the ones in a group of 12-24 month olds that I've seen bite the most, so don't worry too much..it will pass. I'd just be honest with her, saying you don't like that and she may not do that when you catch it, and then pay it no more attention, moving on to something else.

We are having the same problem. M is getting bitten at school and now is acting it out at home. Her teacher said that we should encourage her to use her words to express herself and then remove her from the situation when she does bite. When she comes back into the room, she can help
Comfort the child that she bit.
Timeouts seem very effective for her with biting, so we have to be very consistent with it. Also make sure that there is no play biting at home, because it sends the wrong message.

R has been doing this for attention/play. We stop the playing, and say, no, we don't bite. I don't think she gets it but repetition is key I think!
