Oh yeah I saw this going around a few weeks ago. I think it is called being born in the caul.
It is supposedly good luck also!

I think that's really cool! DH told me he was glad LO wasn't born like that though because the thought of it kind of grosses him out!

Wow, that's incredible! When people have c-secs, is the water normally broken before? Does this ever happen vaginally? My water stayed intact up until I started pushing.

That's really cool. I saw another birth picture where the birth photographer took a pic of the amniotic sac stretched out when examining the afterbirth.

@mrskc: I was wondering the same thing. My water was broken when I was about 6 cm during a vaginal delivery.

@mrskc: @cascademom: i've seen an episode of A Baby Story where the baby was born vaginally and "in the caul"! it was amazing!
with my second baby, the doctor broke the bag literally a minute or two before i pushed. i only pushed twice and then had her, so I wonder if she didn't break it, if this would have happened too.

I know someone who's baby was born 'in the caul' - her midwives told her it was good luck

That is such an awesome picture! I think I read in an article a while back about Jessica Alba saying her youngest daughter was born like that. That's supposedly how they came up with the name Haven, b/c she was born in her safe "haven".
