That car seat looked like the one I had, it was the Britax Baby Safe, possibly with the single hand release. It is one of the only 5 point infant harnesses I could find (Maxi Cosi was only 3).
Re chest clips in Europe, the law as I understood it is that a rescuer must be able to release an infant from the seat with one hand. The chest clip prohibits that, although you can buy aftermarket ones from carseat.se.

@T.H.O.U.: I work in TV news so it's a good excuse to watch this kind of stuff, but the crazy hours are not so great. I got called at 4:30 AM today because they originally thought they were leaving the hospital at 5 AM ET. I got all ready to leave and then got an email saying, "Never mind, false alarm!" So that was nice, haha.

Haha, so hormonal (9 weeks), was in absolute tears over the video this morning. What a special time for them!

I totally teared up at the photos, she looks so incredibly in love. Hair and makeup crew or not, she looks damn good for having a baby yesterday. I looked pale and weak for at least two weeks after- hair and makeup could not have helped.
I do like her dress, it definitely looks like a fashion nod to Diana, only so much more flattering!

I love that William drove them home, with Kate sitting in the back, like your average parents going home from the hospital with their new baby.

@zippylef: It's weird you guys don't have clips because here they make SUCH a bid deal about them being in the right position.
She looks gorgeous, I did not look like that after birth...I couldn't even walk for weeks lol

@mrsmate: Yeah... I totally thought William was getting in the passenger side and they had a driver because I forgot the whole other side of the road thing! But I knew Kate was in the back
@lemondrop: That's exactly what I said-- yeah, she definitely had a hair person and stuff, but still, there is no. way. I will look like 1 day after giving birth. I barely looked that put together on my wedding day.
