Tonight I went to a cookout with some family and my LO started getting very fussy. I knew what was wrong, he was tired of being passed around. He's not a baby that likes to be held a lot or rocked - but how strange is it to ask someone to put your baby down?! Not because I care - but because he really just doesn't want to be held!

Do whatever is best for your lo. It doesn't matter if you seem rude, nobody else matters.

@artbee: I told a few friends he was just tired and cranky and wanted to lay down but with family, I think they get offended. (cough::MIL::cough) and I don't think she believed me! LOL

LO doesn't like to be held either. When she gets fussy, I just take her and hold onto her and not let anyone else hold her. Drives people nuts but oh well!

@Rubies: Lol, glad I'm not the only one! I did that several times and at one point, escaped inside and said I needed to feed him. I lied, he wasn't hungry - we both just needed a break!

Aw, poor lo and poor you! If mil becomes a serious pain, just tell her she can hold him... If she wears the carrier.

@obxwife: I'm so sorry you're going through that. You shouldn't have to defend yourself when you're doing what's best for your LO. People don't seem to understand that an overstimulated baby makes for a long night for the parents... even if those people had kids of their own 20 something years ago.
