How do you get rid of it? LO has had HORRIBLE gas for about a week now- we've been giving him the baby gas relief drops, but I'd rather figure out the cause rather than continue to medicate him.
HELP please! My poor little guy just seems so uncomfortable. 
He also farts more than an old man, which while funny, is obviously indicating a problem.

Are you breastfeeding or formula feeding? It might be something in his/your diet. You can always call his doctor to discuss what the causes might be.

@Honeybee: breast feeding... Any common diet triggers that you know of? I've heard dairy, but anything else?

LOTS. Cabbage, wheat, citrus fruits, cauliflower, broccoli, beans, corn, eggs, etc to name a few. Basically anything that causes gassiness in us will transfer to the baby via your milk.
Doing bicycles really helped my LO. Another is laying her tummy side on your stomach. When they arch it helps them pass gas. This one I'm too afraid to try but laying them tummy on your lap and patting their back.
Also burp between breasts. Make sure to elevate their head (have their upper body on an incline) when breastfeeding.

@Pink Champagne: My LO had horrible gas for a few months - it finally got better around the 4 month mark. She could clear a room with her farts! The gas drops didn't seem to do much for her so we gave her gripe water a couple of times a day and that really made a difference. She wasn't allergic or sensitive to anything... she was just a gassy baby.

@Pink Champagne: haha - I have no idea how I'm still able to eat between gassiness and MSPI! Now that she's older I keep away from the big ones that I know makes me gassy. If it makes me gassy I know it'll likely make her gassy too.

My LO had horrible gas when he was an infant. I tried everything (gas drops, diet restrictions, burping) but the thing that helped
the most was laying him on his tummy as much as possible. Whenever he would try to move his head up or arch his back, he would fart. The best thing to do right now is to try to get the gas out that's stuck in his stomach. Diet is good for preventing but toget out the existing gas, try lotsnof tummy time. We also did tons of leg exercises ( like bicycles) and that helped a lot too. Hope your LO gets some relief soon!! I know how painful it is to watch your baby be so uncomfortable. -
I agree with gripe water! We do a mylicon/gripe water combo and I think it has helped a lot. I have been worn out because the only time he is fussy is at night with the gas!

Our LO had terrible gas as well and it was awful! I eliminated dairy and coffee from my diet and cut way back on citrus fruits. We also started doing bicycles and burping her over our knee or carrying her in the football hold to put pressure on her tummy. All those things helped but what made the biggest difference was putting her on Probiotics. They've worked a treat and I am much more lax about my diet now. LO still loves to be carried tummy down though and does bicycles on her own nonstop, which also helps I'm sure!

Gas drops helped us more than grip water. When all else fails, putting her in the sling or Beco always gets things moving
that's a huge list, but definitely gives me an idea of things to watch out for!
