Soooo we now have a crawler! I need a gate for the top of my stairs that a cat can get under. Does this exist?
If we ban our cat from the upstairs she will retaliate by peeing everywhere. So this is what I'm dealing with.

And I realize we could just install it higher on the wall but I don't want the entire bottom to have a big gap... Just a small section if that makes sense?

Our cat jumps over the gate. Depends on how steep your stairs are I guess.

We have a baby gate up for the stairs going to our second level to keep the dog out! Our cats can crawl under just fine! We have their litter boxes up there, and they've never gone outside of them!

@mrs. bird: It would attach to the wall
@aprk: jumping over won't be an option.. the stairs are very steep!
@mrsbrewer: we need to have it at the top of the stairs because that's where our rooms and his playroom are. I guess with the gate you have I worry about the baby wiggling under it. It's not like we are going to leave him alone up there but I still don't want to take any chances!

We have a cat and I noticed two things she will do. We have a gate at the bottom of the stairs and she wiggles through the spindles on the staircase. Then we have another one in the hall to the kitchen. Because of the baseboard we have it about 3 inches off the ground so she goes under it.

I've been wondering the same thing, thank you @mrs. bird for posting that link! Ours will have to be at the top of a staircase, as well, and our cat a) has defective knees so he can't jump like most cats, and b) isn't the brightest crayon in the box so probably wouldn't figure out how to go under a gate set up a couple inches. It's not essential that he go to the lower level, since his food and box are on the upper (main) level, but he hangs out down there a lot and his "safe spot" is there so I'd feel bad shutting him off from it. Hopefully that gate will do the trick!

@oahujeni: from my experience cats will go over not under! There's not a baby gate in the world that would block my cat out.

Can't your cat jump over it? I know our cats will whether we want them to or not.

I don't have a LO yet, but I have a baby gate like the one @mrsbrewer has. I use it to block off my bathroom so I can put the cat food it there and the dogs don't eat it. We just cut a hole in the bottom so the cats can get through. I think that would work with kids around too.

@cmomma17 & @lazylightning: my problem kitty could probably jump over, but i have another cat that is almost 18lbs. I'd hate to block him off from the upstairs but there's no way in heck his fat gut is making it OVER a gate!

Mine all just jump over, even my fattest cat. Baby gates can't hold back my beasties!
