If you had $40=50 dollars to spend on a gift basket, what would you fill it with for the MUST have baby items? Things you might not have registered for but would be lost without? For me Nose Frida is #1, but i want some more ideas!

I am making a nightime themed basket for a friend with:
1. Mother love lavender baby oil
2. Fuzzy socks for mama
3. Receiving blankets
4. Sleep swaddle
5. Vanilla and lavender bubble bath for mama
6. Wubbanub
7. Goodnight Moon

Reusable or disposable nursing pads, nipple soothing gel pads, infant thermometer (probably too expensive, but it is necessary), gas drops, Vitamin D drops, nail scissors, baby bath soap/bubble bath, nice handsoap (since you have to wash your hands so often in the newborn days), some snacks to easily grab like Clif bars etc. Maybe some postpartum supplies too: newborn-size diapers, witch hazel/tucks pads, sitz bath, dermoplast spray, comfy PJ pants, etc.

@PawPrints: I totally go the functional-slightly embarrassing route for new moms. Someone did it for me at my shower and it was freaking awesome.

another vote for tucks pads, babyganics hand sanitizer (since it smells less medicinal), coconut oil ( for cradle cap, diaper rashes, etc it's very multi-purposed!), earth mama nipple cream, maybe a couple books for the nursery (I loved getting books to stock my daughter's library!)

@LuLu Mom: I like to give a basket with things that I had to run and grab at inconvenient times. Nursing pads, infant Tylenol, gas drops, saline spray, soothies and snacks. Not fun or cute, but running into the store when you could be sleeping stinks.
Adding some fancy chocolate and inexpensive pampering things for mom is nice too.

@akcoffeebean: I agree! Always the stuff I realized I needed at like 2am.

Thanks everyone I'm adding several of these to my list!

I like to do a medicine basket: things you realize you need at 3am. Tylenol, a syringe from the pharmacy that's small enough for newborn doses, a card with dosing info, saline, gas drops, gripe water, nail clippers/file, etc.
Or I do a nursing/pumping basket: lanolin, nursing pads, granola bars, water bottle with straw, milk bags, chocolate, burp cloths, etc.
