My LO is nearly 6 months old and has started to grab her girly-parts. We redirect her hands and she has her diaper on most all of the time except during diaper changes and baths. But she's gotten a few scratches there, and some red bits.
Is there anything I can do to discourage her?

As long as P is clean I don't redirect her. I only care that she tries to stick her hands in poo! lol

I usually just try to keep her hands occupied during diaper changes and I check more closely to make sure there's no diaper rash or something else going on.

DD did that for a little while. She had a bad diaper rash and it turned out to be a yeast infection but once it was treated, she stopped touching.

I think it's just a developmental thing, they work out they have girly bits just like they find their hands and feet!
My wee girl is eight months and still occasionally grabs at herself when she gets nude - she takes after her Dad...

I think it's totally normal. She's at that age where she's exploring and learning so much about herself and her environment. I'd just let her do it.

I don't know about girls either, but E is constantly grabbing himself. DH often winces when he sees it, because he figures it must hurt. I try to keep his hands occupied during diaper changes for obvious sanitary reasons, but he's all over himself in the bathtub.

C doesnt usually try to grab herself. Only when she's got a nice rash going on.

I have no advice - DD just started this at 16 months... she's kind of obsessed with it.
