Am I missing something? The two piece sets for baby girls all have tiny bottoms that will never cover a swim diaper. At this point my plan is to buy cute rash guards and tankini sets and a bunch of plain reusable swim diapers. What do you do? Places like gap aren't making the bottoms swim diapers and I am just missing it right?

It was hard to find something that would cover a diaper, I'll be honest. I'm not sure why baby girl bottoms have to be so small. I would look for swim bottoms that were like little shorts rather than bikini bottoms. Also, one pieces work well, too with a rash guard over them.

Maybe you could find some girly board shorts? I have a boy, and I really like him to be covered up from the sun, so the long-ish shorts are great plus they fit a swim diaper. We use a long sleeve rash guard too.

@mediagirl: Are one pieces really annoying for changing diapers, though? I have visions of a wet and cranky baby and a wet bathing suit that takes forever to remove...

I didn't notice this to much last summer. I think the reusable was even bigger then the disposable.
@mrs. tictactoe: I thought one pieces were. I wouldn't get a one piece for a LO under 1 that still had frequent diaper changes. -
@mrs. tictactoe: well, for the first year, I had her in one of these so it wasn't a huge deal. After that, we had her in swim diapers and we never ran into the issue of her pooping so we really didn't change her until it was time to leave. We never stayed at the pool or beach for longer than 2 hours because of naptime/mealtime/etc.

I didn't notice an issue with our baby gap bottoms last year. They stayed on fine over a swim diaper. I just bought this one for LO and the bottoms look pretty big to me?

Ooh you guys are full of all sorts of good ideas! I am going to check out some of these. I am hoping we will spend a lot of time at the pool this summer so I want to have a handful of options for her.

@Cole: I had a rash guard and bottom set that was like you described- the bottoms were way to small to cover a diaper. Makes no sense. The one @lawbee11: just posted looks really cute and should cover.
I really don't want to deal with a one piece and diaper.

I sized up. i bought a LS rash guard with bottoms from BRUs Koala line (which i think runs small to begin with) and got my 9-12m LO an 18m Sized suit last summer. I also did the bummis printed swim diaper paired with a rash guard

I think I am going to just find a rash guard that matches the reusable swim diapers I have, to make diaper changes easier! But like @mediagirl: said, we probably won't be out long enough this summer to need to change the swim diaper until it's time to go anyway. Somehow we have made it through 2 summers with LO and have never had a poopy swim diaper. Not sure how that is possible, but I'll take it!

I thought that swim bottoms looked small (or swim suits in general) but I have never had a problem with any swimsuits or bottoms fitting over a diaper. Afterall, swimsuit material is very stretchy!

Maybe try Swimzip? Some of their bottoms are shorts-like and all of their suits have SPF protection.

I did a combo of rash guard + swim diaper, and one piece over swim diaper (which is as awful as it sounds).
I only used the one pieces because I bought them before I understood what a PITA they were, and thought they were just too adorable
Thankfully we never had any poop in the swim diapers!!
