We are getting closer to picking a name and right now the front runner is Catherine. It is my grandmother's name and with his grandmother's name in the middle slot it also gives her the same initials of my dad who passed away almost 2 years ago.
For a few reasons though we aren't loving the idea of calling her Catherine and most of the traditional nicknames have already been taken within our family and close friends. Both of us really like Wren/Reine though. I know it's a stretch of a nickname option which doesn't bother me but we can't agree on spelling.
My husband strongly prefers Reine and would even go so far as to spell her name Cathreine-- which I vetoed with gusto. I like Reine and we spent a year living in France together so that connection is sweet, but is it awful to basically name your child "Queen" (the direct translation from French)? I prefer Wren but he thinks this spelling is even more of a stretch.
Thoughts? Are we nuts (tell me kindly!)? How would you spell it? Most people will simply know her as Wren/Reine so I am less concerned about the introducing her confusion, I love the family connection though and that she has the option of a very classic name to fall back on.
