For those that sign with your babies. What did you start with?
How long did it take LO to sign back?
Any good online resources?

We plan on signing with LO and I will do some signs now, but she is only 5 months so she doesn't really understand yet. Hopefully she catches on once she gets those fine motor skills working. We do eat and milk so far. I plan on adding more as she gets older.

Our daycare teaches sign language. I don't think LO gets it yet. Whenever he does anthing with his hands, DH insists he is communicating with us. I'm pretty sure he's not unless slamming your hand on the table means something that I don't know about.

5-6 months is a great time to start, it may take a bit before they initiate a sign, but they're learning them and learning that they're a way to communicate. I loooove signing time!! Great songs and lots of great everyday signs in use. They have some sets in the babysteals archives

Or individually on amazon

Our daycare does signing and we've just started at home too. Our LO is only 3 months, but I swear she recognizes some of the signs based on her reactions!
We do: milk, change, bath, book, mommy, daddy, and cat mostly

We started late...around 6 months, and we're not very consistent with them either! We started with more. We always sign water (though that's a hard one for the kiddos), sometimes sign milk, and recently started signing help and ball. At 8-ish months he started signing more, and he can do help and ball because those three are really similar!
You can always just google whichever sign you're looking to start using. I've also taken books and Signing Time DVDs out from the library.
