That's a pretty high fever - I'd probably call the 24 hour nurse line, if you have one, or your pediatrician's on-call number and see what they think.

@lawbee11: 103.5 degrees in a seven month old qualifies as an emergency to me. Call them and get their advice.

Glad you're calling. That would be my advice too! They will most likely suggest you give her some Tylenol. After we give Tylenol, we do a luke warm bath (cold bath is bad - it gives baby chills, which increases body temperature), and let her chill in just a diaper for a bit.

I'm so sorry - we had a wicked cold/throat infection here for the whole month of December. Its so hard when there's nothing you can do but nurse and try to keep her comfortable. Hope she feels better soon!

@lawbee11: Glad you are getting help - totally not overreacting! A family we know had a baby around that age spike with a fever and they tried to treat it at home and turned out she had a UTI that spread into a kidney infection and had to be hospitalized at Children's Hospital for 2-3 days!

Tylenol is awesome for bringing down fevers and making babies comfortable when they're sick. I try not to administer it if the fever is low, but don't hesitate to use it if the fever climbs anywhere above 102. I hope your LO feels better soon!!

@lawbee11: I assume her temp is going down with meds ?

We took D in around that age with a high fever when her breathing got really rapid and she got lethargic.

hope her temperature drops soon and it's nothing serious.
does she have any other symptoms? usually I just treat temperatures with tylenol, fluids, humidifier, lukewarm baths and cold compresses on their foreheads.

both my kids had high temps for a few days and it was roseola.

Hope your sweet baby girl is feeling better soon. My baby's first fever was so terrifying!

So glad to hear she is doing better with the fever. Hopefully the ped visit tomorrow will confirm its only a bad cold/flu.
C has been sick 3 times this winter with cough and runny nose, which I think has to do with our crazy Texas weather we have been having!
