Yep, same here. Stopped working completely twice. I had a few hours pain-free when I first got the epidural but it wore off just as I was going into transition, and again while I was pushing (and I got no relief from pushing). I couldn't do anything but sit and breathe. Totally lame.

Same here. My epidural wore off almost immediately and I went through about 15 hours of pitocin labor. I didn't have back labor though.

My epidural was ahmazing. I had back labor the entire time. The pain went away bit the pressure was still there.

My epi completely took away the pain of my back labor. Maybe I just had a really great anesthesiologist? I only had the epi for a few hours. It was wearing off but still working as I pushed.

Also, why in the world would they tell you it's not going to work?! Seems mighty unprofessional, not to mention discouraging! Might as well say "I can't do my job, sucks for you!"

My epidural technically worked, but I did have back pains. Also, the way he was wedged in my pelvis, I felt like it was being pulled apart with every contraction. Worst pain ever.

I'm going to say that I hear you and I don't even want to go back and remember it.

Yep. Exact same thing happened here. I got three epidurals after 15 hours of back labor. LO was sunny side up. Every single one of them failed. Funny thing is that my anesthesiologist said that the epidural doesn't have a lot of success with back labor, my nurse contradicted her (just like your story! !!) Then the two went back and forth arguing about it. I was soooo mad!

The hardest part for me was going through the trauma of the epidurals and then still feeling the stitches at the end. If I knew I would have felt that I wouldnt have even considered an epi.
