I was thinking about getting this one from amazon, but is it too elaborate?

Whoa. Super fancy! Does it have a drain plug on the bottom? My issue with pools is that if the water isn't fresh, bugs and twigs and shit get in them and it's a mess to clean out. We have a small toddler pool and a hose spray thing, which seem to work great for us

@yellowbird: that's cute but be prepared to dump once a week and clean it out - the plastic will get all slimey

@Mamaof2: @blackbird: True! I'd probably drain it every time we used it because I don't like standing water in the yard. Maybe I should look at something smaller. I feel bad because we have no outdoor toys and she has nothing to do!

@yellowbird: how about a water table? My kids get soaked using ours and then I just add more water - easy to dump when you are done too

MIL & SIL surprised us with this for LO's 1st birthday a few weeks ago. We haven't tried it out yet, but I'm excited about it. They didn't get an inflatable because SIL was concerned our dog might pop it if he jumped in!

Is there any way you could get a cover for it? We have a small inflatable pool for the kids that comes with a cover, which we put on every time we're done using it. We also throw a bit of bleach in if every few days and it keeps the water fairly clean....clean enough anyway to the point where we don't have to change the water every week.

Oh gosh, that looks super fun. We were afraid to get an inflatable pool because the dogs might destroy it (our dogs are sweet but we can't control their nails). We bought a pool on craigslist, it is actually supposed to be a sandbox so it is very thick and solid and comes with a cover and has a drain but holds water perfectly well. We definitely empty it out between uses. It is fun to have it outside during the summer - and we have a small slide playset that the kids like to put into the pool and use it as a water slide (also from craigslist).
Not these exact items but similar:

We just got a cheap plastic one from big lots. Didn't take a ton of water, easy to clean off and couldn't get popped.

I got something like that but even bigger LO loooves it soooo much!!! I don't fill it with a ton of water; just enough to coat the bottom. I dump after every time we use it and flip it over. It's not too much wasted water but I think standing water is gross.

@Ree723: Oh bleaching it is a good idea, i didn't even think of that. I'd probably forget though. We'd usually only use it on weekends as I have to go back to work in June, so dumping it may be better anyway for us.

@yellowbird: target had it for ~$35 last year. I was lusting after it for 2 summers lol

@Ree723: Do you know what type of pool you have? I can't seem to find one with a cover.
