Wondering what a typical gift is for a god child? My DH and I are becoming god parents to our nephew this Sunday. This is our first and only god child. Thoughts?!

I bought my godson's christening outfit and gave them a few small things-- a hand painted piggy bank, a photo book of his family, and maybe some toys? My brother, his godfather, gave him money, I think, which is what I would have done if he didn't need a new christening outfit. I wanted to do some kind of savings bond, but it was too confusing so it would have been a check.
I've since seen religious children's books or board books that I would have included. -
I got my god daughter a cross necklace. I also started a savings account for her. I $10 a month in it and I will cash it in for her high school graduation.
I have seen piggy banks, silver baby rattles, cross wall hangings, saving bond, bible all given as gifts.

My SIL is my kids' godmother. She got DD a silver cross necklace, and DS got a silver cross baby bracelet. They also got children's Bibles and some cash for their savings accounts.

We got DH's goddaughter a pearl rosary and then a little outfit.
