My almost 4mo goes absolutely nuts when we give her a bath and this may sound silly, but I can't tell if it's excitement or distress. She kicks her legs like crazy, straightens her body repeatedly, and flails her arms the whole time. She's in one of those baby bathtubs, and the water is not too hot or too cold. She doesn't cry at all, and if I can get her to slow down enough to make eye contact, she will smile at me, but it's just this crazy amount of movement that makes me wonder if she's really freaked out? She's usually a pretty chill baby. Or maybe she is just having the time of her life in there and LOVES the water. Anyone experience anything similar?

My DD loves her bath. At four months she would kick her legs and wave her hands around quite a bit. My DH would get soaked during her bath. She's 6.5 months and plays with a rubber ducky during her bath now. I think it sounds like she likes it. I think she would cry if she was upset.

My 9 month old used to go bonkers in the tub. Sounds just like your LO. Kicking and flailing his arms. He would smile and squeal a ton too. It was adorable. He's calmed down a lot since then but still enjoys bath time.

My LO is always a bit hyper and it sounds like him during a bath too. I think it's super cute! He kicks and laughs and flaps his arms and tries to splash water on me and tries to get the facet. It's a crazy time. I love it! I think he loves it too. I vote excitement also!

I didn't want to enjoy it too much in case there was cause for concern. My first child was never like this. But now, bathtime PARTY!

Agree with pp's, I think it's excitement, too! My LO has been like this for many months, even when she goes into the bath tired & cranky.

Excitement for sure! My DD was the same way. She's 16 months old and doesn't freak out like that anymore but still LOVES bath time.

Sounds like excitement! DD is the same way! DS cried for months during bathtime....he made it very clear he wasn't happy in the water (although at 3.5 he's a little fish!)

Excited!!! Still at 2yrs and 1 yr, they climb into the bathtub whenever we go in the bathroom.

Excitement. My DD sobbed until at least 4-5 months. Showers only for that kid.

It's been both, there was a period of time where my son detested bathing and of course it was in the summer, when he really needed to be scrubbed every night.
