....I don't want to buy a tub seat since they seem so expensive and are only useful for a little while. Unfortunately we don't own a bumbo (we have a Super Seat not sure if we could somehow use that).
What did you do?

Munchkin inflatable duck tub? It has high walls he could kind of lean on. We used ours as the transition tub between infant and regular tub.

We're in a similar situation. I've been lying him in the big tub with just a few inches of water in it and keep my hands on him (he rolls onto his stomach and pushes himself up). He likes how much room he has to kick now!

We bathed DD in the kitchen sink for the better part of her first year. We used a puj tub until she could sit up on her own.

I've always bathed LO in the kitchen (or bathroom when he was smaller) sink. One of us would hold him while the other washed. Now that he can sit up by himself I just keep a hand on the back of his head.

I used the big tub, had him lay down with his head on a hand towel, and let him go to town splashing in an inch or so of water.

We put Lo in our tub. Towel to support her head and filled the tub with 2-3 inches of water. She loved splashing and kicking her legs

@lemondrop: I have nothing to add to this as we haven't had our LO just yet but I have to say, that is seriously the most adorable picture ever! He looks so sweet!

DH would sit in the tub with DS before he could sit on his own. It worked well for us. We bought a bath seat but it wouldn't stick.

I have LO a bath in big bath first time tonight and I hope he is sitting on his own soon!! Slippery mess and I'm too cheap to buy a transition tub...towel is a great idea.

C outgrew the infant tub but we left her in it until she could sit.

We used a bath ring until she was over a year old! We loved it! I think she would still sit in it!
