Bumping!

We haven't started a regular one for R yet, but I always say her prayers for her after book and when I rock her after singing before she goes in the crib.

Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. Keep me safely through the night and wake me with the morning light. So far, I've been singing it to her to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle. I imagine we'll do it as a said prayer when she learns to talk.

@MrsMcD: That line totally creeps me out. I'm glad I didn't learn it that way.

Aw, I forgot about bedtime prayers!

When we start doing bedtime prayers (going to start tonight now!) we'll just pray for all the things: Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, Sister, toys, swing, milk, etc

@MrsMcD: My head totally agrees with you, and says there's nothing creepy about it. But my spidy-senses get chills.

We've said prayers with our LOs basically since each of them came home from the hospital. As they get older/talk more we'll have them contribute things that they want to pray about.

Right now we do the guardian angel prayer that @rattles posted above, now I lay me down to sleep (sung with the see me safely through the night wording) and all of the God blesses lol....God bless Elliot, Emery, mama and daddy, their grandmas and grandpas, aunts and uncles, cousins and all of their little friends. Amen!

And then each of us has personal prayers after that. We also give thanks and ask for forgiveness. B always prays for some current event (like in WA state, there was a huge mudslide about a month ago) and E will pray for everyone in our family and her friends.

@mediagirl: when E was in the crib, we just sat on the floor of her bedroom and prayed.

Also, we go to church but there were times we took breaks. We did prayers at night regardless - it's part of our routine.

@mediagirl: We go to church, but it is non-denominational (Christian) and isn't traditional at all. We are big on talking to God just like we would anyone else, so where we pray isn't an issue. I like to do it when we are snuggled up right before bed.

We read from this book and the storybook Bible. We'll expand when he's older

We do Hail Mary, Our Father, Glory Be, pray to some saints that are special to us, for our friends and family and pets and since LO is little I'm really just praying over her so I have a special list I pray for her. It's been interesting because in my family, prayer was always very private. No one taught me to pray at night or even told me I should. It was something I really started on my own. It's important to me now to pray with LO and for it not to be weird or awkward. We have some children's bible story books but we don't read them at bedtime.

We're Catholic and weekly churchgoers.

I sing songs in the rocker and then do the prayer. I
DS has been baptized but I haven't figured out the going to church with a LO yet

@mediagirl: We say DS' prayers in the rocker with him...after books and before songs/lights out. I usually say DD's while we're laying in my bed nursing after PJs before going into the crib. She's still little though (6 months).

And we go to church every Sunday...if anything we've become more consistent with our attendance since having kids.
