We have made prayers part of our nightly routine now with LO. Share your prayers!
Ours goes:
Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep,
Guide me safely through the night
and wake me with the morning light.
God bless, Mommy, Daddy, LO, puppy dog
and all the boys and girls
that are sick and sad so they may feel better
Amen.

We don't have a specific prayer now, though we will probably include some sort of catechism in family worship when LO is a bit older. Now we read from the Big Storybook Bible and pray based on what we read.

We haven't started a regular one for R yet, but I always say her prayers for her after book and when I rock her after singing before she goes in the crib.

@T.H.O.U.: I grew up saying a similar prayer as yours. But I would say "if I die before I wake, I pray The Lord my soul to take." I never even had an issue with that as a kid but I can see how some prayers take that out.

@MrsMcD: My daughter always worries about the kids that are "sick and sad". But she really enjoys naming off all the family members that she wants to pray for.

We've had the same bedtime prayer routine since DD was tiny. It's a very Catholic routine. 
We start with an Our Father, a Hail Mary, and a Glory Be, then we say the guardian angel prayer:
Angel of God, my guardian dear,
to whom God's love commits me here.
Ever this day be at my side,
to light and guard, to rule and guide.
After that, there's a little open prayer for the day's intentions. We wrap up with a litany of saints with DD's patrons, so we say "we pray for these intentions in the name of Your son and with the intercession of Your saints" and then name each of them and ask them to pray for us. We include her namesakes, the feast days on which she was due and born, the patron of the church where she was baptized and any saints whose relics she's visited, then we finish with St. Joseph (patron of families/the church).

Aw, I forgot about bedtime prayers!
When we start doing bedtime prayers (going to start tonight now!) we'll just pray for all the things: Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, Sister, toys, swing, milk, etc

@Grace: I was never creeped out by the line and still am totally fine with it. At some point, I believe it contributed to spark of my interest in the need for God's grace and salvation.

We've said prayers with our LOs basically since each of them came home from the hospital. As they get older/talk more we'll have them contribute things that they want to pray about.
Right now we do the guardian angel prayer that @rattles posted above, now I lay me down to sleep (sung with the see me safely through the night wording) and all of the God blesses lol....God bless Elliot, Emery, mama and daddy, their grandmas and grandpas, aunts and uncles, cousins and all of their little friends. Amen!

I assume when I get to this point with our LO I will do the same prayer with her that I've always done myself, which is an Our Father followed by an informal "thank you" for the day's blessings, ask for forgiveness for anything I'm feeling badly about that day, and asking God to keep our family and friends safe and healthy.

And then each of us has personal prayers after that. We also give thanks and ask for forgiveness. B always prays for some current event (like in WA state, there was a huge mudslide about a month ago) and E will pray for everyone in our family and her friends.

Those of you that do prayers, how do you start when your lo is in a crib? We always said our prayers on our knees up against our beds. She will be in a crib for a while. Do you pray sitting in a chair or kneel in front of a chair or something? I'd like to start....
Also, are you church-going folks or do you just do prayers and will get back to church at some point...like us?

@mediagirl: when E was in the crib, we just sat on the floor of her bedroom and prayed.
Also, we go to church but there were times we took breaks. We did prayers at night regardless - it's part of our routine.

such cute ideas! Right now (since about 6 months) while I am rocking him before I put him in his crib we (I) just say "Hi God! Thank you for.....and I list as many things as I can think of to say thank you for (our warm bed, Daddy, Mommy, our friends...and so on) and then Amen. I don't always remember to do this though. I need to be more consistent.

@mediagirl: We go to church, but it is non-denominational (Christian) and isn't traditional at all. We are big on talking to God just like we would anyone else, so where we pray isn't an issue. I like to do it when we are snuggled up right before bed.

We don't have a set prayer, but our bedtime routine ends wth Jesus Loves Me and then I pray, DH prays, and when they're old enough, they can say their own prayers, too.

We do Hail Mary, Our Father, Glory Be, pray to some saints that are special to us, for our friends and family and pets and since LO is little I'm really just praying over her so I have a special list I pray for her. It's been interesting because in my family, prayer was always very private. No one taught me to pray at night or even told me I should. It was something I really started on my own. It's important to me now to pray with LO and for it not to be weird or awkward. We have some children's bible story books but we don't read them at bedtime.
We're Catholic and weekly churchgoers.

Usually we don't kneel or anything, just stand or sit with our hands clasped or together.

@mediagirl: We say DS' prayers in the rocker with him...after books and before songs/lights out. I usually say DD's while we're laying in my bed nursing after PJs before going into the crib. She's still little though (6 months).
And we go to church every Sunday...if anything we've become more consistent with our attendance since having kids.
