It seems like this afternoon LO has been nursing nonstop. For the past 2.5 hrs she has been sucking on me. She has fallen asleep doing this, when I remove her she wakes up.
So I am torn: have her nurse constantly so she will actually nap and wind up with sore nipples? OR unlatch her resulting in overtired baby but nonsore nips?
Please help me hive!

Can you unlatch and slip a pacifier or your finger in?? That's what I used to do when I was desperate!

Is she actively sucking when she falls asleep or just holding on? If she's just hanging out and not hurting you now, I'd let her stay there. Says the mom with a half-asleep baby hanging on her boob.

We've had a pretty constant nursing day here too! Only P is also really active so it's been me hanging on the bed with her with both boobs out so she can crawl around & then whip back around for some boobage and then resume playing. lol
Personally, I would probably lay down for some side-lying nursing & take a nap with her. *shrugs shoulders*

She starts as active sucking, falls asleep, and so she's just kinda hanging out with the boob.

Me too! LO is only a week old, but seriously - ALL day. She hasn't even slept. Just nursing, constantly. I haven't eaten, haven't showered... when I get up to use the bathroom she cries till I get her latched back on. *sigh*

My LO was a comfort sucker too. My DH took over at some points and would do the 5 S's with her. But if he wasn't around I found that swaddling her and then nursing helped her stay asleep once I unlatched her. Good luck!

I'd leave her to nurse. Runsyellowlights has the right idea - lay down and make a nap of it.

Yep, just let her hang out on the boob! I swear I can remember nursing for what seemed like hours and hours and hours of nothing but baby and boob!

Personally, I would just leave her. let her suckle. It will do wonders for your supply. I used to spend hours with a baby attached to my boob.

I didn't want sore nipples so just kept trying to take the boob out until I got really good at sliding it out unnoticed. Now, getting her to nap anywhere but my arms was a different story.
