I love this. New motherhood is certainly the best of times and the worst of times (mostly the worst, if I'm being honest). I think it's a biological imperative that we forget so that we can continue to reproduce. I'll think of this article the next time an old lady at the grocery store tells me to "enjoy every moment!".

Love this! It really captures how I felt in the beginning, like "did these women experience the same thing I'm doing?" My (least) favorite comment was, "this makes me want to have another baby!" Excuse me, WHAT?! Haha.
But I really try now to encourage moms w/ newborns that I know IRL or on HB. It really is so hard!

Wow this is so spot on. I actually caught myself *missing* long nursing sessions the other day now that dd is fast and squirmy .... Cleary I have some sort of amnesia for what those sessions were really like ...

I wrote a letter to my son about his birth and the first few weeks of his life, exactly so I wouldn't forget about the experience. And I read it every once in a while, so I remember and celebrate how far we have come.

I had a coworker who says some variation of " enjoy every moment" literally every time we talk about my son. At first it was annoying, but then it started being helpful. I'd use it to get myself through the rougher days - someday I will forget all the suck and I will miss it. It makes it easier to bear in the meantime.

I read this the other night when I had a "mommy melt down" and it made me feel SO much better. Also saving to send to friends when they have their little ones and need reassurance that they are doing a great job and that this, too, shall pass.

So good, and so true. I'm in the thick of the newborn days and its freaking hard... but at the same time I find myself wanting to hit pause and keep him as my little tiny baby.

i've said these words to my husband more than once in the last 3-4 months - "i never want to do this again - it's torture. torture!" - buuuut now that we're past the 4 months mark, i've been finding myself getting really sad that he's growing so fast, and i've actually been thinking i might actually be able to do it again. it's crazy that i even have a tinge of wanting another. crazy! those hormones are somethin' else.
