I'm not sure if this is the most appropriate board but....we are thinking about, thinking about ttc # 2 next year(scary to write that out!) LO is currently 18 months.
Anyway, I was wondering if any ladies who have already been there or who are there or who just have an opinion, could tell me if there is anything that they were glad they did / wished they had done / would do before TTC#2 - it can be anything - vacation, buy a house, dye hair purple!
I am trying to plan and prepare so I can give myself the illusion of control I think!!

@Aimed: Drink more alcohol... I breasted for ages so I feel like I never drank again after being pregnant with #1. Also, a date night with DH and more nights out with friends.

DS is 20 months and we're gearing up for our TTC #2 journey. DH and I took a "Just Us" vacation in May, since it's probably not likely that we'll be able to leave two kids behind at home.
We have our family vacation booked for September and we'll be doing a lot of wknd trips in the coming months. We've also been trying to take advantage of the nice weather and doing lots of activities with DS. Not that we won't do them in the future, but I want to enjoy this time with DS as an "only!"
I've also been trying to see my gfs more regularly. It's hard getting together post-baby, I imagine it's even harder when there is another baby in tow.
Another goal was to be below BFP#1 weight before getting KU. I am 5 lbs under and am so happy I was able to reach this point!

I wish I had a few more months with my body to myself. I weaned DD two weeks before my BFP#2. Would have liked a few more margaritas.

Following! The only thing I know I want to do before TTC #2 is lose some weight and go to Europe. Curious what other have to say.

I wish I had weaned before getting pregnant again and had a night away with DH. Also getting into an exercise routine would've helped with the pregnancy

Personally, I wanted to have a break between nursing LO1 and getting pregnant with LO2. I also wanted to spend a night away from LO1 before getting pregnant with LO2. I'd really like to do a night away with DH, but we'll see if that happens. I wanted to get into an exercise routine and get back in shape, and I wanted to do a family vacation, just the 3 of us.

A vacation was non-negotiable before TTC #2. I don't feel like there is anything else I really want.

Well, we haven't given ourselves the "go ahead" yet, but this is what I would want:
1. Long far away international trip
2. Fully and completely weaned for awhile
3. Regular date night schedule
4. Figure out certain things re: career and childcare. -

We have already gone to Europe twice, but that is because my family live there.I think that I would like us to take a really relaxing 'just us' trip as visiting family isn't always the most relaxing thing!
That said I would like to see them again before a potential #2 as I won't want to make that trip while pregnant or with a small baby so no seeing my family for at least 2 years
I guess it's hard to have all your ducks in a row - !@cmomma17: winning the lottery would definintely make me calmer about the decision!

@grizz: are you guys leading towards having another? I know my LO is younger than yours but my delivery still scares me. Not as much, but still there. I do know I'll push past it one day.

We are no where near trying but I know I want to take a trip just DH and I plus an amazing family trip. I also always thought I'd wait for LO to be 2 before trying. I'd like to be a certain weight and try for a summer baby since I'm a teacher. Having a fall baby killed my sick leave.

@ladybee: My delivery still gives me a ton of anxiety, so I'm still not sure. I told DH we'd come to a decision in September, but I've pushed it back to December!

@grizz: @ladybee: Not delivery stuff but sort of coming to terms with my postpartum experience was a big factor in deciding to ttc #2. Hoping you ladies get there.

I wasn't ready to even think about TTC for #2 until LO turned 2. I just needed some time not being pregnant and not breastfeeding. Here were some of my checklist items
-fully weaned
-in a big girl bed (did not want to have 2 cribs if I could avoid it)
-potty trained (no desire to have two in diapers)
-LO in a school program (so she can have her activities while I'm stuck at home with baby)
-vacation without LO (we did a 3 day trip and a 5 day trip)Obviously other moms love the closer age gap and can deal with 2 in diapers, etc but I knew for my sanity I didn't want to deal with that so I went for a larger age gap.
