@jhd: it's weird, i always noticed cm back when i wasn't ttc. i would always think to myself how annoying it was when i wasn't wearing a panty liner.
now that i'm ttc, i feel like i don't notice it as much.
i'm certain i ovulated yesterday as it was confirmed by two different opks and a spike in temp today, but there's definitely no "wet" ewcm. oh well... i guess everyone is different?

also, i'm cutting coffee and wine during the tww. wine i can manage, but i'm dying without my delicious cup of joe this morning.

How is everyones SO handling the TTC process so far? Mine is pretty excited, but I don't think he's thrilled about me telling him when we need to do the deed. He also thinks it's silly that I'm not drinking any wine during the TWW. Oh, and the amount of pregnancy tests I have for my first month! (I have 3 digitals, 5 wondfo's, and 3 frer - though I will not use all those in one month)

I got my darkest OPK the morning of the 19th...was planning to test again that evening but we went out of town and I didn't get to test again until Saturday night (it was negative!).

My BBT was high Friday and Saturday AM, but then Sunday it dropped. Fertility Friend says it can't confirm O because of that. I am wondering if that is because we were up late on Saturday night--does anyone else get artificially low BBTs when they don't sleep enough? I was definitely in bed by midnight and took my temp at 5am. My temp has not been above my coverline since Saturday so I am pretty sure I didn't get pregnant :(.

Fertility friend says my O date was Thursday (with a dotted line...even though I got the positive OPK Friday). That makes me 5 DPO today. I don't think we timed everything right (I was expecting O on the 14th or 15th and got REALLY discouraged with all my negative OPKs) but next month I will know to test more often if I am not pregnant this month!

So @littlebit that means LOTS more tests my husband is OK with it but we were exhausted by the time I finally got my positive OPK (since I thought it would happen earlier). We are both really excited, I am trying not to get my hopes up for this time though. I am going to POAS on Monday or Tuesday!!!

@litllebit DH is excited about ttc and super supportive & encouraging during my monthly ups and downs (as he always is!!!) but he's adjusting to the idea of being told when we need to BD. he says that sometimes makes it feel like another thing on his to do list.

@Littlebit: I was just about to start a thread about this exact subject. My DH knows that we are TTC, but I think he is a bit confused about the whole process. Hahaha. He just thinks if we have sex on any day of the month then I should get pregnant. I simply tell him that, no, it only happens certain times. That's about the extent of what I tell him. He doesn't really know about OPKs and I don't let him see me doing any of that stuff. (Although I don't know why... we pee and poop in front of each other with no problem...) I am gently trying to increase our DTD, and last night he said to himself, sort of introspectively, "my sperm is like gold right now." I laughed so hard that I snorted. I will do whatever I can to keep this fun and exciting to him.

@mrsmcd: my DH is funny about it, too - we're not using OPKs and i'm not temping or anything, but he believes that any day of the month that we BD we're "making a baby." bless his heart. haha! we're trying to stay pretty low-key and laid back about the process, but i'm a total planner and so even without the tools i at least have a general idea of a timeline...but i guess every person finds out what they want/need to know in order to make the process best themselves...DHs included!

@MrsMcD: Oh my gosh! My husband is the same way...totally clueless. I told him we basically only have a couple day window every month to get pregnant and he told me I was full of it. He even asked his friend (who has 2 kids) and his friend told him to just 'have sex every day and it'll happen' - if only it was that easy, buddy! He honestly believes that I have NO IDEA what I'm talking about.

@jhd: That book looks adorable!! I'm glad I'm not alone. I actually bought two - wasn't sure what size would fit my first baby. On the topic of DH's, my DH almost got stage fright when it came down to it! Luckily he didn't, but he said it felt like a lot of pressure - though I certainly wasn't pressuring him. I told him we could even wait a couple more months if he wanted to.

@mfa_lady: Lol, at the 'bless his heart' I love that saying!

@babybean404: I'm 5DPO today too! I think? I got a positive OPK Wednesday night, so I think I ovulated Thursday. Unfortunately I didn't have a thermometer yet, so I wasn't temping at that time. I did temp that day, and that day (the 18th) has by far been my lowest temp so far. So who knows?! I think I'm going to start POAS on Saturday..though I know I should wait til at least Sunday. I just don't think I have the control!

@Littlebit: I'm totally trying to avoid putting any pressure on my DH and seem to approach things just the way you do. My friends sounds the same as yoru DH's friend. (My best friend actually married my DH's best friend.) They have had three kids and totally are in the camp of "don't be silly... just have sex every day!"

@mfa_lady: I'm trying to act low key about it, but I'm a planner too! Although I have been off BC since I was married last January, I knew the general days of the month to avoid since we weren't TTC. But my DH expressed a concern one day that I wasn't pregnant and thought he had a problem! I had to tell him that I was actively avoiding pregnancy, even though I was off BC. He still doesnt get it, but at least doesn't think we have a problem anymore. FX that proves to be the case!

@littlebit: right? haha. i love it, too. the funniest part is, he's in the medical field! he should be the one telling ME about when we can conceive, right?! you know...the more i think about it, maybe this is a ploy to "make a baby" more than we normally do...hahaha!

@mrsmcd: YES! i did the same thing for a couple of months...we had a couple of "slip ups" but i was never worried because i knew they weren't around what would be a typical ovulation time for my cycle length....but when i AF visited, DH was like "man, i really thought you'd be pregnant." i guess it's kind of sweet that they're thinking about it, too - i try to let that take some of the pressure off. but, that's easier said than done!

i also just realized that if by some miracle i get a happy surprise when poas next month, it'll be right before my future sister-in-law's bachelorette weekend...YIKES.

How is everyone hanging? Anyone testing soon? I've realized I miscalculated my O date by one day, so I'm actually 7dpo instead of 8dpo today I'm trying to hold off until Sunday to test. Monday would be even better (10dpo) but I just don't think I can!

@Littlebit: Mine is sooo excited. Just today we were out, and he goes, "I've been thinking up crazy baby names for us." We haven't even decided on a time. I'm so on the fence about this November or next summer, he's soo ready.

@Littlebit: Good luck with the waiting to test. I've only experienced one TWW and it was crazy.

I'm waiting for a positive OPK. This is my second month using OPKs and I really kind of expected to have a positive by today. What time of the day do any of you girls use your OPK?

  15. ellewoods84

    kiwi / 728 posts

@Littlebit: good luck with waiting! The two week wait is the absolute worst. But Monday will be here before you know it.

I am on CD 10, but I usually won't see a positive OPK until around day 17 at the earliest. I will start testing the next couple of days though.

@jhd: good luck this cycle! We are around the same cycle day, exciting!

@MrsMcD: I have only been using them a couple of months, but they say you should test more toward the afternoon. I have gotten positives around noon and as late as 8 pm. However, I have seen some people test both in the AM and PM so they don't miss. Trial and error I guess!

  16. jhd

    coconut / 8079 posts

@ellewoods84 good luck to you too!!

@mrsmcd I have no advice since I'm not using OPK's but hope you get your positive soon! waiting is no fun. waiting for O then waiting to test!

@dh yoga bee hope you & DH can find a time that works for you both.

@ellewoods84: Do you hold your pee for a long time and/or do you refrain from drinking/eating anything before you test?

  18. SupernovaJ

    persimmon / 1141 posts

I'm currently in the TWW and it sucks, ugh. 5DPO as of today. I don't think I'll POAS until August 5 which will be 14DPO because I don't want to see a BFN any sooner than I have to!

Is anyone else charting temps? Mine are continually staying high but I'm just bracing myself for that dip before AF rears her ugly head.

This is our first month officially TTC / charting, but knowing me I'll probably be disappointed with a negative HPT which is so silly!!

I keep convincing myself that every little pinch or pang is a sign I'm KU. So yeah, TWW is the worst!

  19. SupernovaJ

    persimmon / 1141 posts

@MrsMcD: I used my opks in the morning and at night. Definitely recommend 2x a day (if you have the cheapie wondfos) as you will really be able to pinpoint your surge. This month I tested at night and caught the very start of my LH surge but because it was late at night, we just went to bed without DTD. I tested again the very next morning and got another positive so I knew it wasn't too late. By that evening, the opk was negative.

  20. deactivated_account

    GOLD / pomegranate / 3938 posts

@SupernovaJ: That is such good advice. Thanks, friend. I don't use the cheapies. I think they would drive me crazy. I go a little crazy every time someone posts a picture of theirs on HB!! I use Clear Blue digital. But I think I might start doing twice a day - at least this month. I got my positive so quick and easy last month that now I'm a bit frustrated this month.

  21. SupernovaJ

    persimmon / 1141 posts

@MrsMcD: I use the cheapies and if it looks positive but questionable, I bust out the CBE digital smiley. Lol. That digital smiley is a lil freaky because it doesn't go away for two days after the positive (apparently as a reminder that you should be BD'ing??). The clear blues are expensive though! And with my long cycles and testing 2x a day, I would go through those so fast. But they definitely give me peace of mind (and temping too).

ETA: good luck!!!!! Hoping for some BFPs in the next few weeks....

  22. Littlebit

    nectarine / 2932 posts

@SupernovaJ: @MrsMcD: I had the same exact scenario with my OPKs this cycle. Got a blaring positive at night, we didn't BD. got another positive the next morning, finally BD that night, and that test wasn't positive any longer.

I plan on testing once a day leading up to my fertile times on FF...when it gets closer too the predicted O date, then I'll start doing two a days.

  23. Littlebit

    nectarine / 2932 posts

@SupernovaJ: I'm charting too. I'm 8dpo and my temps have stayed high, but I'm trying to not get too excited. In fact, I've kind of accepted that I won't be pregnant. I just don't feel any different! And I don't want to get my hopes up! I've been kind of annoyed...for the past three days I've had the EXACT same temp each day! Temping drives me cray cray

@dc yoga bee: Aw! I love when dads to be are excited too! I had to buy some baby clothes for a birthday party today and my husband asked when I was supposed to test! I was surprised he even remembered!

  25. deactivated_account

    GOLD / pomegranate / 3938 posts

@SupernovaJ: That's a good thought about using the cheapies every day, and then a clear blue for affirmative confirmation! I like it!!

  26. SupernovaJ

    persimmon / 1141 posts

    @Littlebit: that's definitely a good plan.

I always drive myself nuts wondering about timing. We had actually BD'd a day before my positive OPK (just because, had not even used an OPK that day thinking it was too early in my long cycle). I then decided to start testing the very next day and was caught off guard with the positive OPK, but no BD...husband was already asleep. We did BD the next day, but it was in the evening when the opk was negative by then, so I feel like I missed my prime time! We shall see.... Eeeps.

@MrsMcD: I just try to hold my pee! For around 4 hours. It's hard, but possible! Lets just hope all this pee holding doesn't give me a bladder infection. That's the last thing I need! This cycle I am going to try to test 2x a day.

Sooooooo. I've had a little bit of cramps this morning. Not painful, just feel weird! Just saw that I have *tmi* but slightly brown tinted CM. making me nervous! I hope this isn't AF coming early! We haven't BD recently, so it can't be old blood from that. Any ideas? I'm 9dpo.

If it was going to be positive I think it would definitely be positive by then. I'm looking forward to the next cycle for sure. That will be my first full cycle charting so hopefully that will help!
