Months trying: Starting next month!

Months off BC (if applicable): 18 (off since January 2012). Using NFP sucessfully since then.

What are you doing to prepare: Charting temps using FF since Jan 2012, started taking a multivitamin regularly, now taking an additional 400mcg folic acid and Omega 3 supplements. Buying preseed soon and plan on drinking more green tea! I read TCOYF cover to cover last year when I went off BC (HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT BOOK!) and I work at an OB/GYN so I consider myself somewhat prepared. I've been looking forward to TTC for so long, i'm excited!

@littlebit: you're from Richmond! I lived there for 7 years, and went to U of R. LOVE that city so much!

Age: 26

Month: 3rd cycle actively trying (currently on CD 4. I hate you AF.)

Months off BC (if applicable): probably a year now. I didn't get off for ttc, but for other health reasons. My cycles have been loony! They get increasingly longer until they get to 50-60 days, then subside back to about 29 days. Ebb and flow, can't figure out a pattern!

What are you doing to prepare: I've been charting for a few months now, my bbt and CM. Last month I started using OPKs, but they never went positive no matter how many times/when I tested. I went ahead and assumed the darkest one I had was a positive since my temp did go up afterwards. Supplement wise, I've been taking prenatals and fermented cod liver oil.

This month I'm going to start taking extra B6 after I ovulate to try to lengthen my luteal phase. It was 12 days last cycle, but I was spotting for the last 6 days. Figure it can't hurt and may help!

Age: 28

Month: I am in my second month trying....AF was due exactly 1 week ago, but keep seeing a BFN! who knows what is going on this cycle....hoping my period will just finally show up so I can move on to the next cycle! My cycles have consistently been 33-35 days the past year, so its a little crazy for it to be 1 week late!

Months off BC: I haven't taken hormonal BC for the past 3 years, we have just been using condoms.

What are doing to prepare: I have been taking prenatals. I have been using OPKs before we even started TTC so I could gauge when I would be ovulating, but this past cycle I did not seem to get a positive OPK. We also have been using preseed. I would like to track my temperatures, but I work night shift and wake up different times all the time. I think it would be too difficult to see the temperature shift.

I always thought I would be super laid back about TTC, but it makes me kind of crazy! I am glad I found this community so we can support each other through this journey to baby! Good luck ladies!

@Littlebit: it really is! but even if you never get a positive, charting your bbt and cm will realllly go a long way to helping you understand your cycle. for me, the OPKs are just bonus!

@Littlebit: I feel like a lot of people find that the first cycle they ttc is the weirdest cycle they have, because of the stress of it! And I've seen those articles! Gross, but informative. This is probably way too much information, but I never find EWCM until after I go #2! Sorry if I just grossed anyone out...

@Littlebit: Yeah, I just read online about tracking temps and it seems like all my temps would be wonky. You should be okay though by setting your alarm and taking your temp then! What kind of dog do you have? And thanks! I love legally blonde. I have been that movie about 1000 times and watch it every time it comes on tv! It drives my husband bananas.

@mfa_lady i agree i think i might also drive myself a little crazy with charting etc. what are you studying, if you don't mind me asking?

@jhd i know myself well enough to know not to go that route unless it's absolutely necessary! i get way to tangled up in the details of things like that, waaaay too fast. ha!

as for grad school, thanks for asking! i'm getting an mfa in creative writing! it may never make me a dime, but i really love it and am so glad i did it. i'm doing a low-residency program, which is an mfa model that has become popular in the last couple of decades - you do the reading/writing/critiquing from wherever you are, and attend on-campus residencies twice a year (mine are one week each, but they tend to range from 7 to 11 days, depending on the program). DH just got a degree in physical therapy so luckily one of us will have a practical post-graduate degree!

@jhd: awesome attitude! I am going to try to adopt that attitude and apply it to this part of my life. We are doing everything we can and it really is out of our control beyond that point.
I also hope you get your BFP soon! I hope we all do!

What are you doing to prepare: Started taking a multivitamin regularly again last fall and switched to a prenatal one in May. Reading lots of baby-related books and eating healthy minus my sweet tooth :). I'm not temping or using OPKs at this point. I had a pre-conception visit in May and Dr. told me to "have fun" and if I'm not pregnant within 6 months to make another appointment.

Months off BC: about 7

Preparation: 3 months of prenatal vitamins, joined fertility friend and bought a thermometer but haven't started temping yet. Also bought some OPKs to start using next cycle.

I have 'thin' PCOS (diagnosed 9 years ago so not really sure where I'm at these days) so my cycles are usually a bit long and irregular. My last 2 were 32 and 38 days, but I'm currently up to CD44 this time round... With 2 wishful thinking tests showing BFNs. Next step is a big nutrition overhaul and a consultation with a Chinese medicine practitioner for a new perspective.

Hi Ladies! I've been on the June and July POAS boards and the March Mamas Board (but unfortunately lost this one at 5 weeks), but never did a proper introduction on HB so I thought I'd join this thread!

Age: 29

Months Trying: August will be our 3rd cycle TTC and first after chemical pregnancy/early miscarriage (we're planning on hopping right back into the TTC saddle once we get the go ahead from the doc).

Months off BC: Went off BC pill in April, had been on for about 12 years prior to that.

What are you doing to prepare: Had a preconception appt in March, started taking a pre-natal vitamins in March, got a BBT and started charting/temping in April. Might move onto OPK if we aren't preggers by the 6 month mark. I also read Taking Charge of Your Fertility, which I would highly recommend to everyone if you haven't read it yet. Also trying to eat healthier, cut back on caffeine and alcohol, and started doing yoga about 3x a week (to manage stress).
