@Littlebit: Sorry to hear about AF but glad you're on the August POAS board from the start. This month looks like it'll be crazy on there -- can't believe we're on 4 pages already!

AFM, based on temps I should be ovulating (would be consistent with a period about a week off), just frustrating DH is out of town for work. We never had a problem w BD timing until this month--I feel like I'm already out for August Why is making a baby so hard? Kinda wish we had started trying sooner.

@Littlebit: sorry AF showed, but here's to a new cycle!! Good luck and I hope that August is your month! See you on the August POAS thread!!

@NorCalWayfarer: just wanted to let you know you are not alone in the bad BD timing. My husband and I work complete opposite shifts and the 3 days I am working I don't see him at all. It does make it super difficult and it is frustrating. I sometimes feel like we should have started sooner also. But don't count yourself out yet, anything is possible!

    @littlebit sorry about AF

DH had to travel for work this week, but thankfully I was able to go with him. Glad that it worked out this way since this is my window for O. It is hard to work all this into schedules sometimes!!

What a bummer. Timing BDing around O is hard enough, but to add in difficulties with traveling must be hard! I feel for you ladies!

    @littlebit so sorry about AF!!

I am 14 dpo right now according to FF and I've gotten 3 BFNs. FF says I should get AF tomorrow. I am now on CD 31 which feels soooo long to me after being on the pill for many years. I am holding out hope, but wouldn't I get a BFP by now if I were pregnant?

I have had none of the usual symptoms of AF, just some cramping which I haven't had in years. I think I am going to test again today just in case. I am afraid I'm going to have a 70 day cycle or something crazy like that. UGH!!!

Has anyone else gotten a BFP this month?!?!

    nectarine / 2932 posts

@babybean404: This is your first cycle of BC, right? It might take a little while to regulate. I would think you would have a positive test by know at 14dpo...TTC is so confusing! I hope you get your BFP tonight! Or at the very least, AF so you know you don't have crazy long cycles.

I don't think we had anyone graduate this month. Maybe August will be our month?!

I hope it will be! Just got another BFN.

@babybean404: Sorry But like all the bees say, you're not out til your out (or AF shows). I've been off BC for 4 cycles now and my first off BC was a little wonky (they've been lengthening since then). Good luck!

@ellewoods84: I'm sorry you have to deal with crazy work schedules too! Good luck and hope you get a BFP soon!

@jhd: Good luck to you this month! I sometimes wish I could travel with DH! Although his travel is pretty unpredictable at times. I was contemplating meeting him out at his project site but this month his flights are super expensive! Too bad he's not a quick Southwest flight -- I've flown to meet him before when he's close (Seattle, LA, etc).

@norcalwayfarer thanks! he doesn't travel often & it just worked out that it happened to be the week before I go back to school. I hope that things work out for you with your DH's schedule. TTC can be stressful even without different schedules!

@norcalwayfarer I guess I am still technically in...how long did your cycles get? I am thinking of calling my OBGYN if it gets to 40 days, but I don't want her to tell me to just wait

I decided to wear white pants today. It has always worked before when i didnt want to see AF, so let's see what happens!!!

@babybean404: hi! i ended up getting my BFP this month but we are still being "cautiously optimistic". i just found out on friday - it's still very surreal. it's hard to be really positive about things knowing so many things can go wrong...but whatever happens, happens! we are very excited though and trying to think positive thoughts.

did AF end up coming this month? how long have you been off BCP? i think it's recommended to wait around 2 months to make sure it's all out of your system before TTC, and also so your body has time to regulate. have you been charting?

my last two cycles before my BFP were long - in the 40 day range due to exercising and dieting (to an extreme.. i have a vacation coming up. ). so i ended up charting and taking my temps, etc. to pinpoint ovulation during my long cycle and it worked for us, first time around. i know we got really lucky though.

@SupernovaJ: I know I said it in the POAS thread - but congratulations again!! So happy for you! Have you had a dr's appointment yet?

@Littlebit: thanks again that's super sweet. i have a doc appointment schedule on august 23 and september 4. two different practices - i have to get a new obgyn so looking at two different physicians at two different hospitals. although i may cancel the 2nd appointment if i fall in love with the first ob. i'll be 7 weeks and 9 weeks for those appointments.
if you have any questions - ask away! happy to share any info.

@babybean404: I have been off the pill for exactly a year, and have had some wacky cycles in the past year... anything from 32 days to 98 days (which I'm sure you don't want to hear). My doctor told me it was totally normal for the first year of being off the pill, so hopefully it at least saves you a co-pay.

There are some vitamins you can take to help regulate your cycle (Vitex is the magic ingredient). I'm 2 months into that and this cycle seems to be my most normal one yet (in the TWW - FX!), but supposedly Vitex is a slow and steady, and three months is the magic time when it really starts to work??

    Any updates from you?

@supernovaj CONGRATS!!! Yay for your BFP!
Is there a correlation between long cycles and exercise? I run/spin/lift 5 or 6 days a week. I have been charting, but my temps are really inconsistent. Which is frustrating because I've taken my temp at 5am on the dot every day!

AF still hasn't shown up. I had the worst migraine of my life last night complete with lots of nausea (my husband was saying "are you SURE you're not pregnant??"). I am hoping that means AF is on the way.

@tarabonno I've never heard of Vitex! My cycles were really regular before the pill. Where do you get it? My doctor told me we could start trying right after I stopped taking the pill and didn't mention wacky cycles!

Thanks for all the advice! I am going to stay off the boards til AF shows. Good luck to everyone in the TWW!! And especially to @supernovaj, hope you find a great doctor!!!

@babybean404: it depends on whether or not your body has had time to adjust to it. in general, i exercise quite a bit (i'm a fitness and nutrition nut - just one of my hobbies). but about two months ago, i started exercising a lot more in preparation for a vacation and just because it was summer. i've always had normal cycles in the 30 day range previous to this, even with my usual running (around 15-20 miles a week / ~8 hours per week at the gym). however, once i increased the cardio intensity with HIIT and interval training, my cycles extended to 40+ days. this happened to coincide with TTC so that made it a little confusing for us because i was ovulating much later.

i read online that extremely strenuous exercise does affect fertility because your body is put under a tremendous amount of pressure / goes into shock. i was actually trying to get really cut and shed extra body fat even though i have always been relatively low (around 13-14%). if you drop towards 10%, that's when you can begin skipping menstrual periods, etc. so i would recommend staying above that for sure if you are ttc, and ease up on exercising if it's too strenuous. my HIIT routines were extremely strenuous where i was sprinting at high speeds and running on drastic inclines - i was literally gasping for breath. now that i'm pregnant, i have cut out HIIT entirely and only jog / run at a moderate pace + weight training.

if you've been spinning intensely and your body is used to it, and you've always had regular cycles, than it shouldn't affect your fertility. some people just have longer cycles.

ETA: thank you for your well wishes! so sweet. i have my FX for you girlfriend!!

How is everyone doing? I'm at CD28 today & expecting AF to show sometime in the next day or two. First day of school is Wed. so the thought of AF on top of all that is making me crazy! If she doesn't show I'm going to try to hold off testing til Saturday simply because I don't want to test before school!

I am in what always seems like the never ending 2ww! I always tell myself not to symptom spot, but it never works! Ugh! We did manage to have a good BD schedule though, finally. I will POAS on August 21st, when AF is due, but hopefully she won't show! My husband is going out of town that week, so I will not test any earlier!
@jhd: she might not show! My fingers and toes are crossed for you! Good luck with the 1st day of school.
