LO has a music/dance class that's from 3-4, and we were invited to a birthday party that starts at 2pm. We wouldn't be able to make it for 2pm anyways because her naps go past that, but is it rude to get to a party at 4pm? I really don't want to skip the class because we already missed one and there are only 2 classes left.
We aren't necessarily close to the friend of the LO who's having the birthday party. Is it rude to be late? Would you skip the class?

I wouldn't show up at the end. By then the parents are usually ready to see kids go home.

I would think the party might already be over by 4? No idea, I just imagine that young kids' parties don't last that long. I might just skip the party since you said you're not that close to the birthday boy/girl, and you want to get your money's worth out of the class.

If the class finishes at 4 by the time you get there the party will be over for sure. But yes, showing up over 2 hours late is rude in my opinion.

Yes two hours late is ride unless it's just to drop off a present.
We were about 30-45 min late for a bday party the other weekend due to nap conflicts.

If you're not close to the party host I would not show up that late to a party. Like others said, the party will likely be winding down.

I'll be the one voice of dissent... one family came quite late to J's birthday party (I think they also showed up around 4, and it started at 2), and I thought it was so nice of them to come. They had warned me that they might not be able to make it, because their LO had another birthday party they had already committed to that morning. It was great to have them there for the last 45 minutes or so of the party!

ours was almost over at that point. if you have a conflict like that, i would say skip the party unless you're close to the family and can give them a heads up/drop off a gift.

I'd skip one or the other. Showing up super late or appearing to just try to fit it in looks rude even though that's not your intention!
I know that it can be a pain to try to try to juggle everything but it's a little kids special day so showing up mega late or calling to try to fit it in makes it seem like a chore when it shouldn't be. So I would vote to go on time and enjoy or send regrets and go to the class instead.

I think it's fine to go late and call ahead to give them a heads up and reason. People would appreciate the communication and it's better than a 'no'. It's to benefit the kids' relationship anyway.
