I have a Beco Butterfly II and am wondering if I should get a mei tai style carrier like the babyhawk, kozy, catbird, etc. for our upcoming trip to the Philippines because it will be hot and humid there, and it will take up less space in our suitcase.
We will not have a stroller and will be walking a lot, so I will be wearing Olive most of the time.
Worth it? Suck it up and use the Beco? Do you have a mei tai style carrier you love?

I switched to a mei tai 'cause it was smaller to pack so I was more likely to carry it with me and therefore use it. But, with the humidity in the Philippines, I'm not so sure you'll want to carry her up against your body anyway. It'll be hot and sticky for you and her. If you had time, I would suggest getting one custom-made in a light mesh fabric but if I remember correctly, you're leaving fairly soon. Maybe look for a used Maclaren Volo mesh stroller?

I know my sister has the babyhawk and LOVES it. She wore it on her trip to Peru and it was very hot there (it was January, so 90+ degrees)

@Red: we wouldn't even be able to push a stroller because the land is either beach or forest, so i have to carry her.

We were living in southeast asia when LO was born. I used the ergo (heaviest of them all), don't know what I was thinking. We were in Singapore though where super strong a/c buildings can be found at every turn. But even when we traveled to other countries in the region and spent hours at a time walking around with him strapped to me, he managed fine. But the lightness and packability of a meitei type carrier is definitely a plus. Do try it out first before you go. I bought a beco butterfly for my second child and I never felt as comfortable wearing it as I did the ergo. Maybe I just didn't use it enough.

I just ordered a Butterfly and a Babyhawk to try and compare. So many people have told me they take their mei tai when traveling because it packs easier. I would look at thebabywearer.com FSOT boards to get one at a cheaper price. You can always resell it if you don't like it.

I have a Babyhawk and it's so much lighter compared to my Ergo. Not only does it fold up nice and small but it's physically much lighter than my Ergo. I can actually see my feet when I walk 
I definitely prefer my Babyhawk during warmer weather.
