We need to get a car seat for DHs car. He has a 2 door Honda Accord coupe. Anyone have suggestions for convertible car seats for small cars? I'd prefer LO to be rear facing.

I have a britax pavillion in my 2 door dodge challenger. We tried 3 or 4 car seats at buy buy baby and they all fit just fine. The passenger seat does have to be moved forward some but not enough to cause an issue.

@MamaJ: My husband is a big guy so he's really worried about finding a car seat that will fit in his car and he can get LO in and out of. Maybe we should go to BBB and test a few out. That's a great idea!

@littlek: yeah I am really short. So if I had put the carseat in the driver's side it would have been just fine for me. But my husband is a big guy too and drives my car maybe once a week or so. That is why we put it on the passenger side. I do have to crawl into the back and sit there to take DS in and out though. It's pretty easy for me, but slightly more of a pain for my husband but not impossible..

The Combi Coccoro will be one of the smallest you can get. Downside is that the height and weight limits are lower since the seat is small.

Agree with PPs about the Combi Coccorro, we love it! I believe it's weight limits are 33lbs rear-facing and 40lb forward-facing.

I would join the Car Seats for the Littles facebook group & check out car-seat.org for some reviews/tech support for your specific car & types of seats.
You'd be surprised what seats can fit in what cars, and the stats of your lo make a big difference on what they best seat would be too. Ie. We have a Coccoro & even though it's considered a "short lived" rf seat with it's low limits (36" height is what we'll grow out of first), we'll easily make it to 2.5 maybe 3 in it b/c P is petite.

Yup, make sure you consider height limits more than weight limits since LOs typically outgrow seats by height first. If I had kept my Marathon, LO would have to have been flipped forward way before 2 by height even though he's still way under the weight limit.

@runsyellowlites: Our neighbor is an admin, so I can ask her as well. That site scares me a little.

@Mrs. Yoyo: On a sidenote: I REALLY wish car seats would list their height limits like they list their weight limits! I know some do, but alot of them don't & I think for the most part seats are outgrown by height first.
Okay, that's all for sidetracking & threadjacking.

@runsyellowlites: amen! I just wrote a report on convertibles for another website and the marketing is so confusing and misleading. And even those that do list height limits almost never mention the inch-from-top-of-shell thing (ahem, Britax) Almost makes me want to become a CPST ...
Maybe when things calm down a bit!

We have Diono convertible car seats. They are much taller than most but we love them, especially since they are 5-point harness until 80lbs and then go all the way up to 120 lbs for booster. You really won't need to buy anymore car seats after getting one of theirs. They also sell an angle adjuster to help when rear-facing. It gives the front passenger about 4" more inches of space.

@littlek: my husband has a 2 door 4 seater bucket seat sports car and the Combi Cocorro fits well in there when he drive that car. I got it just for the day when DH needs that car. I no longer want it for my car though. We're getting a bigger seat for my car.
