I go back and forth on this... I liked having my son end of February - until I realized at his first birthday that all his birthdays from hereon out, the likelihood of his friends cancelling on his party is high because of flu-season and that makes me sad!
I am a September baby but that is the school cut off date and even though it's a lovely month, I remember hating it as a kid.
So for that reason I think May-July is the best month to have a birthday.

LO is August which isn't great because people are doing end of summer trips before school starts.
I think April/May or even early June would be nice.
But then you may hit Easter.

I had LO in April and I thought it was perfect. When/if we have another it would be nice to try for an April, May, or June baby.

Spring is by far best for where we live... P is early April & it's fantastic weather at that time (we do have Easter issues though), G is late August & I have SO much trouble trying to plan b/c it's a billion degrees out... can't do anything outside really & our house is too tiny for 10+ 6-10 year olds! lol...
I really wanted a February baby this time b/c there really isn't anything that would crowd the birthday.... we'll see.. lol

I thought May was optimal. One issue to consider is that kids born in May have a higher incidence of multiple sclerosis. They think it's due to absence of sun and therefore vitamin d during pregnancy.

@Mrs. Jacks: Whoa! That's kind of scary! eek! I'm a May baby but I also gestated down here in South Texas where we're warm & sunny all but about 2 weeks out of the year.... Hopefully that would make a difference! lol

@Mrs. Jacks: Weird, never heard that. Do those stats change if a mother takes vit d during pregnancy? I took 5,000 iu's a day per my MW because I was pregnant through the winter.

I looooved September! It was cool and comfortable, I could walk her, she had her shots by Christmas. I just kept her away from sick people, but honestly, I wouldn't want any baby (whether 2 months, 6 months, or 10 months!) to catch any colds or anything anyway.
It was easy to stay in and cuddle, learn to bf, etc. Also easy to bundle her up right in her carseat in the house before heading outside when it became chilly!

DS was born in the beginning of May. Around here May is hit or miss when it comes to weather. It can either be beaultiful, which it was for his birthday, or rainy and cold. DD was born on the beginning of August and its usually really nice, not too hot or muggy. I'll like having her birthday I think.

For me September is great, I'm a teacher so I'm off all summer during my third trimester and then have a full school year off with the baby for a total of 14 months. Our cut off date for school is December.

A winter baby for DH and I would be optimal. DH has even said in the past that if we don't get KU in time for a winter baby, we'd try again the next year. Uh, no way babes. I know it'll be harder if its in the busy season, but I'd really like to have a kid while I'm in my prime...

It's only correlation research, but I would imagine the more sun exposure, the less incidence.

LO was born June 2. He was due May 24. I thought May would be the perfect month to have a child because we'd get to enjoy the summer with him. Now that he is a bit older and more sturdy and we are more comfortable with activities outside of the house, the summer is almost over! So I think March would be the best time at least taking into consideration the first year. Which happens to be when I was born!

I voted for April (even though I'm due in early Feb) because I truly believe that Spring is the best time to be born. You can enjoy the summer with a baby that is a little older and able to be taken out. You don't have to deal with the dreaded flu season and you don't have to have a baby in a snowstorm (one of my biggest fears about my due date month)!!

Actual birth month was never an issue to me. Any month that I could get pregnant, I was thrilled for. I really wanted my kids to have separate birth months, but it wasn't enough to get me to really take a month off from trying.
That said, I'm just happy to only be in early pregnancy during our hottest months!

Even though I love G's bday (July 4), it is too hot to do anything outside right now, so I'm stuck in the house! If I could plan my birth month (ha!) I'd pick Feb-april, because the weather isn't bad in Texas at that time!

@Mrs. Jacks: Interesting. The pedi here told us that at our latitude, the sunlight is insufficient for Vit D conversion, even with the longer daylight hours. She encouraged all of us to take a supplement.
I wonder if they have ever tested that correlation in Alaska!

@Espion: well known risk in higher latitudes, but I'm not sure if they've specifically looked at Alaska.
I do know that in Seattle, my vitamin D level was undectable even with supplementation! Much better where I live now!

I had LO in April and enjoy his spring birthday. I'm also another September baby, and that was the one month I wanted to avoid having a child born in. I know too many people born in September!

I said April because I have an April LO. I think there are too many major holidays in the fall and over the summer kids are out of school or on vacation so maybe less kids avliable for birthdays/sleepovers as the kids get older?

I think April would be the ideal month for me. I'd rather be in the end of my pregnancy in the cooler months.

I have a February birthday and never had friends not come to my birthday parties because of flu....usually it was ski vacations 
My sisters, on the other hand, are both July birthdays and never had friends available for parties because of summer break and camp. They were always bummed out that they couldn't bring cupcakes into school.
I like having a January baby. When the weather was cold and miserable and all I wanted was to stay in, baby girl was too little to go out much anyway.

I loved having a May baby. Didn't have to do much work to dress her (she was in a diaper and socks mostly), which made diaper changes really easy. When she fattened up it was winter and seemed so sturdy and ready for it. I'm nervous for a fall baby and all the colds going around and having to put so many clothes on a newborn. But who knows, maybe it'll be even better.

I loved having babies in ca winter, so I voted February. Less holidays and not much going on at that time too so I won't have to worry about busy packed weekends while trying to celebrate my baby's bday.

I think feb or march would be great! We have mild winters so its already warming up by march. I think October was a great month too. It's past all the back to school mayhem and before the holidays start.

@Mrs. Pen: DS's birthday is in August, and it's no fun for kids his age to have summer birthdays. All the other kids in class have in class birthday celebrations throughout the year and his birthday is at the end of the summer, so most kids have lost touch by then for the most part.
So, for this reason, I'd say March-April.

DD was born the end of June and I think it's perfect for where we live. It's warm enough to be outdoors and most people haven't left for vacation yet (ppl normally take the whole of July off). The weather's warm, but not hot, the nights are cool, but not cold. The best part is it's not super dry like the winter months.
But I was born in September and I loved it. My hometown doesn't really have seasons, so weather isn't an issue. I liked having a birthday near the start of school and the cut-off was a little later. I was always one of the youngest in class, but it never bothered me.
If you ask DH, he'll say Feb. His birthday's in Feb and people around here generally covet a Feb birthday because it means they're a little older once they start school, which gives them an advantage.

Late spring early summer would be great! April is generally nice around here but ill always be crossing my fingers for a non super rainy weekend, lest all her little friends have to stay in our basement! This year, all of April was fabulous
I have a winter bday and it is HARD to find indoor place sometimes!

I've got a May baby, and I thought it was perfect! Although, last summer was SO ridiculously record-breaking hot, and it was kind of hard to get out and about as much as I wanted to.
