I am looking to sell my dress.
I'm thinking Ebay and craigslist, but what else?
Did you have any luck selling? or did you buy a used gown? if so, where from?

I sold mine to a wedding dress rental store and got pretty good money for it. I was kind of sad to see it go though. I did save my veil for my daughter. I figured she'd want to buy her own dress for her future wedding but she can repurpose the veil.

@banana: Never thought of that. I don't think i'll be sad to see mine go. I have no use for it. Plus, I just got it back because a friend's sister borrowed it as her reception dress (she had 2 dresses, one for ceremony and mine for her reception). So, I am used to other people wearing it and not having it in my home.
Let's get some cha-ching!

Honestly, I got quite a few questions from the weddingbee classifieds. Especially if you can list a specific model/designer.

I bought a used gown at a small second hand bridal store local to me. Personally, I don't think I would have bought a gown without trying it on. Maybe see if there are any local second hand stores near you?

I sold mine on preownedweddingdresses.com and was VERY happy with the sale and how much I made! It was easy!

@T.H.O.U.: but it never sold, right? I tried weddingbee a few months after my wedding and...omg...ALL I got were questions and "i'm very interested" for an entire month. No one ever pulled the trigger and I was tired of my email getting filled up with questions that I had already answered in the description :'(
@Rainbow Sprinkles: @grizz: @Mrs. High Heels: will try these!
@pui: I'm def going to look. My dress is pretty popular, so I am assuming these ladies already tried it on, couldn't afford it and now are looking for used. Ya know?

@banana: oh that is a good idea. How did you find one? Just walk in? Call? Email pics?
Mine isn't a common/popular style so less bites on oncewed, preownedweddingdress, etc.

@TurtleDoves: I was actually the one who chickend out. Most of the offers were kinda low balls and I decided for that amount I would just keep it.

@locavore_mama: The place where I bought mine also rented dresses. So they just bought it back. But a few friends of mine called around a few wedding rental places and asked if they bought used wedding dresses. And most of them did! Maybe try calling around? I'm sure you can sell it to one of them if you want to get some money for it. As long as it's in "rentable" condition, they'll probably buy it!

@banana: hm. Thanks! It's not a popular style so I've given up on preownedweddingdresses and the like!

@TurtleDoves: I Ebay'd mine. I would try Craigslist first and you could see if there are any local boutiques who do consignment?

@locavore_mama: Why is it not popular? I don't even know what's popular in terms of wedding dresses anymore!

I bought my wedding dress from ebay. I was looking for a particular dress in a certain size and condition. I got it for a good price, too. It fit me perfectly.
I, also, sold two sample dresses that were too large for me. I'm drawing a blank on how I ended up selling them. I think it might have been through craigslist. I bought them at a sample sale so I just wanted to get my money back when I sold them. If I wanted a certain price, I might have gone with a site that specialized in wedding dresses.
