Hi there,
I'm new to TTC and am 40 years old. I am taking my last BCP tomorrow and am anxious to see how my body will respond. Several ladies on here have talked about Ovulation Predictor Kits. Which one do you prefer and why?

I prefer the Wondfo cheapies. I order them from Amazon and you get 4o for under $10. It's great because you wind up using so many per cycle. However, I also use the clearblue digital to confirm that I did get a positive when I think I did.

i loved the one that gave a smiley face. it worked for me and it wasn't so hard to read the lines (i hate the lines).

I also used Clearblue Digital Ovulation Prediction kits - I got mine on Amazon. Those kits plus charting helped though I got PG during a cycle when I got no positive OPK and when I wasn't using charting

This is my first month using OPKs and I bought the Target brand. I haven't had any trouble reading the lines yet but I also haven't ovulated.

Went to see a fertility specialist this past summer because we were using an opk every month for about 8 months and was getting anxious something was wrong. Had used first response and digital ckear blue ( no smiley faces for me). Dr said i had been using the worst opk with first response. Told me to get clear blue with the lines.
Said not to worry about shade of second line. If there was a second line even a light one, i was ovulating! Stop testing!
I got pregnant that following month. Fluke?

OPKs totally didn't work for me.
Splurged on a month's worth of digital tests, and also got the super cheap internet ones...everything came up negative -- but I'm now early in my first tri! So, OPKs are the be-all and end-all.

Honestly I would start early in your cycle the first month, just in case. The first month I started using OPK's I started on CD 6 or 7 I believe. I wasn't sure when I ovulated, so I tested from that point on just to get a feel for my cycle. I have 32 day cycles and usually don't get a positive OPK until CD 16. The 2nd cycle I started testing at CD 12 just to make sure I didn't miss it. The better you get to know your cycle, the less test strips you'll go through!!!

@melisslp: If you go with CBE digitals, they are (or at least were) cheaper on Amazon than in stores. They can really add up, so just an FYI.

Definitely Clearblue Digital Ovulation Prediction kits -- the one's that give you the smiley - they are expensive but work the best. I had tried a few others and never got a clear +
