DS is 2.5 and I want to have something fun for the baby to "give him" when he comes to visit us in the hospital in a few weeks. If you did this, what was the gift?
He's really into Jake and the Neverland Pirates right now, so I was thinking of getting Jake's pirate ship, but I'm not 100% sold on that and would love some other ideas. He already has several Big Brother shirts and definitely doesn't need any more.

I got DS a doll, so that he could copy me taking care of the baby if he wanted. But, he never used it and could have cared less about a gift. He was a little younger than 2 when DS#2 was born.

Something really fun to play with gets my vote! DS got a toy tractor with a trailer from his baby bro. He liked it ok but didn't love it.

DD got a Build-A-Bear Anna (Frozen) bear. It was "okay" but not as loved as I had hoped. DD is terribly spoiled though and has too many "things".

I got my son the Fisher Price Ark set with extra animals It was a huge hit since he loves animals and he still plays with it and mentions at times this was what his sister got him. I am already thinking of gift ideas for both of them now that Im pregnant again

DD got an ergo for her baby doll in the same pattern as mine. It's still a hit a year later.

@SeptMomma12: fwiw - my ds is just over two and a,so really into jake. He LOVES the ship, so I'm sure you're ds will too. We are getting ds a buzz lightyear.

I was just thinking about this too. DS really isn't into anything like crazy right now. He does love stuffed animals but already has way too many. I was thinking maybe some big brother books. He likes play doh but his way of playing with it is to tell me what to do! Not really good when I'm trying to keep him busy.

We got our nephew a "big bro toolkit". We got a cheap toolbox from Walmart (a plastic kind-http://www.walmart.com/ip/Stanley-Series-2000-Toolbox-with-Tray-2-Lid-Compartments/16609546) and put some diapers, buttpaste, a travel wipe package, hand sanitizer, and then a big brother book. I think I may have put crayons and coloring book too. The books didn't fit, but everything else did. His parents loved it, and he loved bringing it around to help change the baby when he first came home.

No experience yet because I'm due with #2 in August, but my mom got me a doctor kit when my sister was born (I was newly 2). In the videos of them giving it to me, I was very excited to have things just like "Doctor Joe", my mom's doctor.

I've been thinking about this too. My brother just told me that the hospital has a siblings class. Not sure if a 2 year old would really understand the class. My best friend gave her then 2.5 yr old a toy. I haven't heard how it went with her DS.
