My lo is almost 7 months old and we still haven't gotten her birth certificate, we have the paper pinned on the fridge but keep forgetting about it..... Must send it in this next week

HAHA. I didn't know I had to send paper work in for DD so I think we got hers when she was 2 months old or so?
DS.. is 3 weeks old. I don't want to go out and get a certified check/money order so .. who knows when I'll send his out

Didn't order wagon jrs until lmw was born. Ordered them both at the same time. Wj was almost 3!

@chopsuey119: I didn't realize that I had to since with my first lo my midwife sent in the paperwork for us after we filled it out. -
The only reason I was on the ball for this is because I wanted to cross the border to do some shopping and you need a birth certificate to do that.

We couldn't get ours until after finalization, so we got it when she was about 8 months.

Still haven't ordered DD's yet. Now I have to reorder my DS' because Canada changed the passport laws. I didn't order his til he was 1...

We needed a copy to get DS baptized. I got it when he was 6 weeks old. You may be able to order it online through your county.

They did all the paperwork for us for both birth certificate and SS card in the hospital, including give us a "novelty" birth certificate that the attending OB signed. All we had to do to get the official certificate and SS card was sign some papers. Which was good, because otherwise I probably still wouldn't have it!

We got LOs but I thought it was like a super big deal that we get it right away. Had I known otherwise, she probably still wouldn't have one lol

I got one, but my maiden name is misspelled. UGH, and now I have to go through all kinds of paperwork to get it fixed.

Wow thanks everyone, I definitely feel better now! I don't know why it seems so important despite the fact that I haven't actually needed it yet.

NY does it for you at hospital thank goodness. I would never have gotten round to it otherwise.

I probably would have forgotten but the hospital makes you hand it in before you're discharged

we did ours right away because I wanted to get her social security number so we could add her to are insurance.

We just ordered hers at 6 weeks because we are flying soon and we need it for that.
