No. I'm the youngest but I fit more into the personality traits of an oldest. Although my brother is 8 years older than me and I think I've heard before that if there is more than a couple years between kids the next kid board should be a "first" again by personality.

NOPE! I'm a last child and I definitely have many more of the first child qualities: high achiever, organized, on-time, responsible, adult pleaser, obeys the rules. My older brother (first born) has more of the last child qualities than I do!
ETA: Because others mentioned age gap, I thought I should mention that my brother and I are only 16 months apart, so I never felt like a "first" child!

I think the oldest one is true for my brother. But the middle one does NOT describe my sister (she is far from easy-going!) and I identify more with the traits of an only child. I've very close to my parents and sensitive.

i have a weird family dynamic. i grew up the youngest and i think those traits totally suit me. but i'm adopted and found out i had three little sisters when i was 17. so i'm the youngest of me and my brother but the oldest of my sisters. and some of the oldest traits are very me too! so i'm a combo!

100% yes for me (first), 33% yes for DH (middle). DH is more of a first-born personality.

@babycanuck: Yeah, the books about birth order say that if there is a certain number of years between you and an older sibling you become a "functional first born."

I'm the middle of 3 girls and I'd say the description is partially accurate. I don't think I'm a typical middle child though.
My younger sister resembles more of a first-born and my older sister resembles an only child. Weird!

My brother fits most of the first born characteristics.
I have characteristics from both last born & only. my brother and I are 13 years apart, so I grew up alone a lot of the time because he was already out and about doing teenager stuff. Barely home.

I'm a middle child and I think some of it describes me well...I can be quite secretive, and I often feel that life is unfair. I also think I am pretty generous.
However, flexible, easy-going, and social..NOPE.
ETA: Hahaha, I just read the last child description and it is eerie how well it describes my younger sister. Whoa.

I'm the first born, but I have way more traits of the last born (besides self-centered and finacially irresponsible). Organized and On-time are the only traits of the first born I have.

No, like some others, I am the youngest but fit the only child profile due to the age gap. I think I read before that if the age gap is 5 years + that the birth order traits don't apply.

I'm the baby and definitely a creative, outgoing, risk-taker, but I'm not self-centered or financially irresponsible -- I think that has more to do with how I was raised though. I think everyone likes to be pampered, but I'm not high maintenance, if that's what that means. My husband is also the baby, but while he has a great sense of humor, the only child description definitely fits him more.

These have always fit my siblings and I. I'm the middle child and the epitome of it except that I'm not secretive at all.
My sister is definitely first born and my youngest brother is definitely last. However, my mom had my youngest sister with an 8 year gap between her and my brother and the birth order started over again. Her personality is more similar to a first born than last child, but she actually has elements of both somewhat equally. It's very interesting, actually.

@Adira: I'm also a last born with most qualities of a first born. I only have a 2.5 gap with my older brother.
