I've been seeing a lot of birthday party posts lately and it's got me thinking...other than the first birthday, do you throw your child a birthday party every year? If not, when do you/did you plan to start throwing birthday parties (specially, those that include your child's friends, not just family members, etc.)?

We've thrown our kids parties every year. So far, 3 for DS and DD will have her 5th party in March!

We've thrown a party every year. Her 2nd bday party was just family at home. 1st was the biggest. This year for her 4th we will do a party for just her friends and maybe do a family dinner.

Every year but LO 1's first and LO 2's second were family only dinners/parties. We started inviting friends from school at LO 1's 3rd birthday.

We've had a party or get together with immediate family/close friends every year.

Threw a big 1st. 2nd was just with immediate family. Third was a big ordeal with school friends. 4th will be another big one with school friends.
We plan on throwing her a party every year or until she doesn't want anymore

We had family and our friends for the first two years. Very casual. I called the 2nd birthday a play date with cake. We were going to skip this year but every one at daycare had one and LO invited all her friends before we even mentioned a party. We won't have one every year.
I don't think LO2 is going to have a party until he asks for one.

We threw a big first for both girls. Extended family and friends. For DD1's 2nd and third it was just immediate family dinner. DD1 will be getting her first friend party this April for her 4th birthday. The friends we're inviting are kids she's been in daycare with since she was 7 weeks old!
DD2 turns 2 in August and it will be just dinner with immediate family.

We've had a party every year for each kid. It's just a simple party at home with our family and friends to celebrate.

I didn't see the point in throwing a second bday for DD since we only have a handful of kid friends to invite, but DH insisted. So we rented a bounce place doing this whole shebang for 7 kids max lol. The party package is technically for up to 30 kids. I hope they all come! I could have paid per head for each kid and it would have been much cheaper lol. Oh well

Thanks for the feedback, ladies! We've been doing more family-oriented parties until now but I think the friends-included parties are nearing the horizon.
