My 8 month old has black spots along the gum line and in between the two bottom teeth. He is primarily breastfed does bottles during the day. So he hasn't slept with his bottle. I can't believe he already has decay. Has anyone else experienced this? My peditrician was nonchalant about it. But I'm concerned that I need to be doing something more to prevent it.

@regberadaisy: no we haven't been taking them. That's why I'm stumped everything I've read online doesn't match up for us.

@turkeylurkey: I highly doubt it's decay at 8 months. How long has he had the teeth? Have you tried flossers?

No experience but I would call a pediatric dentist and see what they say.

@yellowbird: they came in at 6 months. That's me too hard to believe in just 2 months. Especially since I didn't start a bottle until about 7 months and that was just 2 a day for daycare. One breastmilk the other formula.

@Torchwood: I just looked at formula has iron. I'm just surprised that with as little as he has had that it would do this. My husband thinks it's a lack of some vitamin. ??

Has your LO had tap water? Where we live the tap water is really hard and without realizing it we gave lo the tap water. He developed spots on teeth but since we caught it early they were easy to get off.

@matador84: in the formula yes. But it's filtered. I hadn't thought about the tap water. Maybe I will get some bottled water and try that. Thanks
