Our house already had Hunter Douglas window treatments that are sooo nice! I don't think we would have been able to afford to put them in, and I don't know what your budget is like, but they are awesome! Color doesn't really matter in their case, they are just light white and sheer.

We got ours at Home Depot. The fake wooden white ones. Only the 2" would fit. One day we want plantation shudders.

I have different stuff in different parts of the house.

In our living room, which faces the street, we have bamboo blinds. In our bedrooms, we have thermal cordless roman shades.

I personally don't like mini blinds unless they're the kind that are sandwiched between the glass.

i bought cheap ones from lowes for our bedroom but they look great, and blackout ones that look similar from selectblinds for the kids' rooms. they really do a great job of blocking out light!

@Emsmems: We have the same ones, and I like them since they can open from the bottom up or the top down. But we still have curtains too, because I feel like a room looks more finished with curtains.
